Update
Michal has started maintenance treatment and is struggling to get back into shape❗. Michal has been bravely battling T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia for more than a year. At the beginning of June, on the seventh day of the month to be exact, came the most anticipated day in the history of our Warrior's treatment so far. The day he finished intensive oncology treatment at "Cape of Hope" and is currently undergoing maintenance treatment in his own home! This is a huge step towards improving his health, but it does not yet mean the end of his struggle with the disease. Michal is currently receiving chemotherapy in oral form. Regular blood tests, at least once a week, and follow-up visits to the hospital are also essential. He is slowly returning to the physical fitness he had before treatment began. He dreams of returning to long bike rides, and would very much like to be able to run, jump and play ball with his peers again. Unfortunately, he still has to face a severe immunodeficiency, which means he won't be able to return to school. The upcoming school year will come in the mode of individual teaching. Behind Michael a very difficult period, but our Warrior really bravely took another step forward, and the smile almost never disappeared from his face. He and his family are very grateful for all the help he has received, and he believes that the next stage of treatment will also bring the desired results, and then he will be able to start rehabilitation to return to full fitness. Let's help Michael get to the next stage! We encourage you to continue supporting this intrepid teenager, who is already getting closer to achieving his dream goal! August 9, 2024

After returning home, the boy's head began to hurt.
Mom thought it was nothing alarming, everyone sometimes has a headache. Unfortunately, the pain was getting worse, and it didn't stop the next day either. Painkillers did not work. The parents went with Michael to a pediatrician, who ordered a blood count. The boy's mother got her first shock when she received an electronic referral to the hospital's Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Department.
On the same day they were admitted to the clinic. The date of May 17, 2023 will always remain in the memory of the parents. This is the day the diagnosis was made: acute lymphoblastic leukemia type T. Intensive treatment began, very difficult for Michael.
He had already undergone pancreatitis twice, which involved a stay in the Intensive Care Unit, parenteral nutrition and severe mucosal damage. The boy could not eat or drink, and suffered severe pain. He has had three very difficult HR blocks and the worst, which is life without what he had before treatment.
There is still a long road ahead of Michal and his family. They believe that it will be successful, that after the end of the treatment this disease will never return, that Michal's biggest dream will come true - RETURN TO NORMALITY. That he will be able to live as he did before the disease.
Anxiety will probably remain forever, but Michael's mother hopes that it will only be in the parents' minds, and her son will forget all about the illness and the hospital. The pain and suffering he has been experiencing for many months will be replaced by the joy of a carefree childhood.
Let's help them get through this extremely difficult time!
