When the body began to send signals
The first symptoms appeared in early November 2025. Krystian noticed that he was experiencing increasingly severe night sweats, extreme fatigue, and a rapid weight loss. At first, he thought it was stress or an infection. It wasn’t until he began experiencing heavy bleeding from his gums and nose that he decided to go to the emergency room immediately. On November 12, tests revealed serious abnormalities, and further diagnostic testing in the hematology ward led to a diagnosis of acute B-cell lymphoblastic leukemia, Ph-like subtype with a CRLF2 rearrangement. At the time of diagnosis, the disease had affected approximately 90% of his bone marrow.
Treatment, with CAR-T therapy as its turning point
Krystian began intensive hematological treatment: chemotherapy, numerous injections, IVs, blood and bone marrow tests, and constant monitoring of his vital signs. After an initial improvement, when his bone marrow percentage dropped to 2.3%, his condition deteriorated again, making it necessary to prepare for CAR-T therapy—the most critical stage of the entire treatment. After the therapy was administered, his body reacted very strongly: around the tenth day, he experienced weakness, a drop in immunity to nearly zero, and a severe inflammatory response, all of which required extended observation in the hospital. It was a difficult time, but the doctors explained that this was a sign that his body was responding to the treatment.
The battle that is still raging
After CAR-T therapy, Krystian gradually regained his strength and is currently at home, though he remains under the constant care of hematologists. He still requires regular checkups, blood and bone marrow tests, and monitoring for minimal residual disease (MRD). In the test conducted on June 17, 2026, his MRD result was 0.24%. Krystian is now awaiting another, decisive test scheduled for July 1, and if the result does not improve, doctors plan to proceed to the next stage of treatment, including a second round of CAR-T therapy. This wait, on which so much depends, is one of the most difficult experiences in this entire battle.
Everyday Life Centered on Health
The illness has robbed Krystian of his ability to work and live independently, as he was accustomed to doing. His mother is his greatest source of support; she helps with doctor’s appointments, transportation, medications, and daily tasks, while also working herself—which makes the entire situation an enormous burden for her. The financial side is also difficult: his disability benefits aren’t enough to cover medication, transportation, safe food, and daily necessities at a time when Krystian is unable to earn a living. Asking for help doesn’t come easily to him, but today it is simply necessary.
A passion that gives you strength
Krystian’s greatest passion is photography—he especially loves capturing Poznań, city events, and public transportation. He also creates his own online projects, manages social media accounts, and records short videos. Despite his illness, he tries to return to what he loves, as much as his strength allows. It is photography and creativity that give him the sense that he is doing something of his own and keep alive his hope of returning to a normal life.
Let's help Krystian smoothly move on to the next stage
The funds raised will be used to cover the cost of medications, medical and hygiene supplies, transportation to hematology checkups and tests, safe and nutritious food, and daily living expenses while Krystian is unable to work.
