Lost independence

Just two years ago, Kazimierz valued his independence very highly. He enjoyed those ordinary, everyday moments that many people hardly notice. Going to the store when he felt like it, or going for a walk, without asking anyone for help. There were no signs of any major changes in his life. It was everyday life, which did not require any special attention. It just was.

Then came the illness

As a result, Kazimierz lost both his legs and his sight. The world, which had previously been open and accessible to him, gradually began to shrink to a few rooms, a few repetitive activities, and a growing dependence on other people. It might have seemed that the worst was behind him, but life had one more difficult chapter in store for him.

Bleeding, anemia, and tumor

The first suspicion that something disturbing was happening in Kazimierz's body arose when gastrointestinal bleeding was suspected. Hospitalization proved necessary, but no tests were performed during which could have explained the cause of the problem.

In February this year , Kazimierz was diagnosed with anemia, which was another worrying sign from his body. He received a blood transfusion. This time, the doctors decided to conduct extensive diagnostics. The results of the tests clearly indicated the diagnosis: adenocarcinoma of the colon.

At the end of February, doctors decided to surgically remove the tumor along with a section of the intestine. It was a very serious but necessary procedure.

Thoughts that won't go away

Life has not been kind to Kazimierz. He lost his wife and sister. The only family he has left are his sister's children and his granddaughter, who is very close to her grandfather. She is a ray of hope in Kazimierz's heart. Every day, he hears warm words from her that fill him with hope for a better tomorrow.

The care and treatment facility cannot hospitalize cancer patients, so after leaving the hospital, Kazimierz's granddaughter wants to take him home. She wants to take care of her grandfather so that he does not end up in a hospice.

Kazimierz is a mentally strong man, but he struggles with thoughts about whether his pension will be enough to cover his care. Every day, he is accompanied by pain and nostalgia in relation to his current situation.

Histopathology results that will determine further treatment

Kazimierz is currently awaiting the results of histopathology, which will determine the course of further treatment.

Please pause for a moment and reflect on this story. So many difficult things have already happened in Kazimierz's life that it is hard to believe how much can befall one person.

Today, his daily life depends on the help of other people and the strength of his loved ones, who try every day to bear the burden of this situation and make him feel safe. However, there are things that cannot be overcome with love and goodwill alone.
