Double jeopardy
There are symptoms that on the surface seem trivial, explained by fatigue, tension, temporary overload. We wait for them to pass, believing that they are nothing serious. This is exactly what happened in Carolina's case.
Discomfort in the neck area, neck stiffness, limited head movement - nothing that would immediately bring to mind cancer. Over time, however, more symptoms appeared. Enlarged lymph nodes, growing pain, swelling that became more and more visible every day.

Then the decision was made to act. Karolina was taken to a hospital in Pleszew, where on September 6 a lymph node slice was taken from under her right armpit. She did not have to wait long for the results. The diagnosis was unequivocal and devastating: T-cell lymphoma, diffuse and malignant.
Barely had these words had time to ring out, more results came and another diagnosis - acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Two diagnoses, two cancers. A burden that is impossible to bear, even for a strong and mature person. In an instant, Karolina lost her sense of security, the ground under her feet and her confidence in tomorrow.
What had been an ordinary daily routine became a struggle for life, for hope, for a return to herself.
Fighting on two fronts
By the doctors' decision, further treatment was to be continued in Wroclaw. First, it was necessary to strengthen the liver, so supportive therapy was implemented. Then came the moment Karolina feared most - the start of chemotherapy.
The treatment began with a five-day series, followed by the introduction of so-called red chemotherapy - an exceptionally strong chemotherapy given weekly for four consecutive weeks. Karolina is already after the third cycle. Each new day is a test of strength for her body, which is weakening, and her spirit, which cannot give up.
Fatigue, loss of appetite and anxiety accompany her constantly, but determination still smolders in her gaze. She knows she must persevere to live again as before - to paint, to laugh, to talk to loved ones, to simply be among the people she loves.
This realization becomes her strength - quiet but steadfast.
Homesickness
Karolina has been in the hospital for many weeks. Her days pass in a rhythm of tests, medications administered and silence, where time seems to pass more slowly than anywhere else.
Her family visits her as often as they can. Brief conversations, smiles and the warmth of their hands bring solace, but between visits there remains a loneliness that can overwhelm.
Karolina's biggest dream is to return home - to the four walls where every object has a story and the smell of the air is familiar and soothing.
For her, home has become a symbol of a return to normalcy, a place that waits like a promise that when treatment begins to take effect, life can again be made up of small, everyday moments.
