Diagnosis

In February of this year, I received a diagnosis I never wanted to hear: breast cancer that had metastasized to an axillary lymph node.

I remember that moment very clearly. The doctor’s office, the doctor’s calm voice, and that feeling as if time had stopped for a moment. The words were sinking in, but I didn’t want to believe them. It was as if they were about someone else, not me.

Then everything happened very quickly. Decisions, tests, and chemotherapy—which became my daily routine. With each cycle, I could feel my body losing strength. There were days when even the simplest things became a challenge.

Support

Today I’m at home with my fiancé. He’s the one who holds my hand during those tough moments, when I’m running out of strength or when my thoughts start racing. He’s right there beside me—calm, patient, without saying a word. He’s just there. The same goes for my family and friends; their presence makes me feel like I’m not going through this alone.

Well-being

I look in the mirror and see someone different from who I was just a few months ago. My appearance has changed, but more than that, the way I feel has changed. The self-confidence that once came naturally is now somewhat subdued, more cautious.

The diagnosis has left a mark on me that isn't immediately visible, but that I feel every day. It has changed my thoughts, my body, and the way I view myself and the future. There are moments when I find it hard to come to terms with this, when I need time to rediscover myself.

I need some help

Before I got sick, I was a nurse. I liked my job. Helping others came naturally to me; it gave my life meaning and satisfaction. Today I’m on sick leave, and I miss it very much. I miss the people, the conversations, and the feeling that I can be a source of support for someone.

My treatment is ongoing, and with it come more expenses. All of this adds up to a burden that becomes increasingly difficult to bear as time goes on. That is why I am asking for your support today. Any help you can provide not only eases my financial burden but also gives me the chance to focus on what matters most: my treatment and recovery.
