It all started in 2002. Back pain that just wouldn’t go away. Legs that were getting weaker by the day. A body that began sending signals that something was wrong.
Then came the diagnosis: mesenchymal chondrosarcoma. A tumor, about three centimeters in the spinal canal, that set in motion a story that would span years. A story in which nothing was certain.
Surgery and Treatment
There were surgeries. Eleven in total. The tumor refused to stay in one place. It moved around, as if looking for a way to always stay one step ahead of the treatment. With each subsequent surgery, the body became increasingly burdened. Paralysis of the lower limbs worsened, slowly robbing him of his mobility.
There was also chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
The next stages of treatment were intended to stop what was getting out of control.
Everyday Life
Today, the story is different, but no less challenging. I'm currently undergoing medication treatment.
My life revolves around my home and the hospital. Since my last surgery, I’ve lost my independence. Every day brings new challenges. Even the simplest tasks become insurmountable obstacles without someone else’s help.
Family support
During this difficult time, however, I am not alone. I am surrounded by people whose presence means the world to me right now: my daughter, my husband, and my sister. They are the ones who help me every day, support me in even the smallest tasks, give me strength when I’m running low, and remind me that even in the hardest moments, there is good to be found.
Small joys
Before my illness changed my life, I found joy in the simple things. I loved reading books, and music was a part of my everyday life, giving me strength and lifting my spirits. Sometimes I would also pick up my brushes and paints, finding peace in painting.
Please support me
Every day of this battle comes with enormous costs. Medications, personal care products, rehabilitation, and equipment needed for exercising at home are all essential.
That is why I am reaching out to ask for your support. Every bit of help gives me a chance for a better tomorrow. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the kindness and help you have shown me.
