An injury that turned out to be much more serious
In September 2025, Igor fell off his bike and broke his right arm; he then wore a cast for four weeks. A month later, a seemingly trivial incident occurred: he slightly bumped the same arm against a stair railing. That’s when the pain began; his arm swelled up, and Igor couldn’t move it. Exercises didn’t help, and another X-ray led doctors to refer the boy to the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk. There, on December 18, 2025, he was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma with secondary lesions in his lungs.
Treatment that requires tremendous strength
Igor’s journey through treatment was extremely difficult. Even the tumor biopsy in December was complicated by massive bleeding. In May 2026, Igor underwent a nine-hour surgery in Kraków to remove the tumor and reconstruct the bone using a special “growing” endoprosthesis. A few days later, another procedure was necessary after he dislocated his shoulder joint. At the same time, Igor underwent ten cycles of preoperative chemotherapy, and he is currently undergoing postoperative treatment, followed by planned radiation therapy. The treatment has left its mark, including problems with his fingernails, recurring inflammation, low blood counts, and frequent blood and platelet transfusions.
A family that sticks together
Igor spends most of his time in the hospital, where his mom is usually by his side, and his dad takes over on weekends. His mom doesn’t work so she can be with her son, so his dad supports the entire family of five—Igor also has an older sister and a younger brother. During these difficult times, they all support each other very much, and they’re surrounded by kind relatives and friends. The biggest challenge remains the distance—the 200 kilometers separating their home from the hospital—and simply missing their everyday lives.
The field that awaits him
Igor loves playing soccer, fishing, and video games. Returning to the soccer field and the water is his biggest dream today—a goal that gives him strength as he faces each new day of his battle.
Let's support Igor on his journey to recovery
Igor faces a long rehabilitation process, which will be crucial for him to regain the use of his hand, and it is for this that his family needs funds the most—as well as for the costly trips to the hospital. Every donation brings Igor one step closer to the day when he’ll be able to pick up a soccer ball and a fishing rod again. Let’s help him regain what he loves, recover his health, and return to his team.
