A Diagnosis Hidden Behind an Everyday Ailment
In the summer of 2025, Dawid began experiencing heartburn, indigestion after meals, and sometimes vomiting after eating anything. Initial tests revealed the presence of Helicobacter bacteria, but despite treatment, the symptoms persisted. A subsequent gastroscopy revealed a tumor, and a histopathological examination confirmed the worst-case scenario: malignant stomach cancer. In February 2026, an exploratory laparoscopy additionally revealed metastases to the peritoneum.
The Treatment That Changed Our Plans
Dawid underwent four cycles of chemotherapy, after which surgery to remove his stomach was planned. Unfortunately, tests showed that the procedure is not possible due to metastases. Dawid is currently continuing chemotherapy every two weeks and has already completed six cycles. At the end of June and beginning of July 2026, he is scheduled for a CT scan, which will determine the next steps in his treatment. He is pinning many of his hopes on this test.
A struggle that is also taking place within
The illness has taken its toll not only on Dawid’s body but also on his well-being. He has been on medical leave for eight months, and his perception of the world has completely changed. There are better and worse moments—the hardest ones come after chemotherapy, which is devastating to both his body and his mood. Sometimes Dawid just wants to be alone, in silence. The most painful thing, however, is the feeling of helplessness when even the simplest desire—playing with his son—proves to be beyond his strength.
Passions That Promise a Return
Dawid has always been passionate about sports, especially soccer and working out at the gym. For the past few years, his garden plot has also become a place for him to relax. It is these passions that now offer him a glimpse of normalcy—and thus a world to which he desperately wants to return as soon as he regains his strength.
Let's help Dawid regain his strength to fight
The funds raised will give Dawid the opportunity to access non-reimbursable medications and private medical consultations—everything that can improve his chances in this battle. Every donation provides him with real support and hope for more good days ahead: days when he’ll once again find the strength to run after a ball and play with his little son. Let’s help him return to the life he loves and to his loved ones, for whom he wants to be strong.
