The fall that triggered the consequences
Ten years ago, after a seemingly harmless fall, Bogdan damaged his wrist joint. Over time , a small lesion appeared in that spot. It did not cause pain or interfere with his daily activities, so initially it did not cause any concern. However, it did not disappear, and its presence began to worry Bogdan and his loved ones.
The tests yielded a surprising and difficult-to-accept answer. The change was cancerous.
Surgery and attempting to return to everyday life
Bogdan was referred to the Hand Surgery Clinic in Poznań, where the tumor was removed along with part of the wrist joint. The procedure saved his health, but left him with permanent limitations in the functionality of his hand, making it difficult to perform even the simplest tasks.
With time, life began to regain its rhythm. Walks with my wife, reading my favorite history books, and peaceful everyday life slowly returned to normal.
A few years later, another diagnosis appeared: epithelial sarcoma in the oligorosive stage to the lungs.
Radiotherapy and its consequences
In the following years , Bogdan underwent two cycles of radiotherapy aimed at destroying cancer cells. The treatment caused side effects in the form of radiation damage to his right hand. His skin remains severely irritated, and coexisting psoriasis further hinders the healing process.
Follow-up examinations also revealed further abnormalities in the lungs.
Searching for further treatment options
Bogdan is currently undergoing consultations regarding the possibility of carbon ion radiotherapy. This precise method allows for more targeted destruction of cancer cells. The treatment could take place in Austria and would need to be financed from his own funds.
Bogdan calmly says that the hardest thing is being aware of the disease. He would like to sit down with a book in the park next to his wife again and not think about treatment for a moment.
Treatment and psychological support
The return of the disease means the need for further treatment, regular check-ups, and psychological support. This experience affects not only the body, but also the sense of security and inner balance.
The funds raised will be used to purchase non-refundable medications, further treatment, and psychological care to help Bogdan get through this stage with a greater sense of stability.
