Bartek’s family has been waiting for the results of the genetic tests for many months. When they finally arrived, there was hope that they would finally allow the boy’s condition to be diagnosed. Unfortunately, the results did not provide a clear diagnostic answer this time either.
As a result, Bartek was referred for further testing at a pediatric genetics clinic. The search for the cause of the disease is still ongoing
Bartosz remains under the constant care of doctors at Przylądek Nadziei in Wrocław, and the current diagnosis—or rather, the lack thereof—remains unchanged at this stage. The doctors have scheduled another follow-up MRI in six months to assess the disease’s progression.
During the last visit to Cape of Hope, an eye exam was also conducted. A single fenestrated defect was observed in the right eye on the temporal side, while in the left eye, a single fenestrated defect was observed on the nasal side, along with narrower arterial vessels. The doctors recommended a follow-up eye exam in three months.
The family is also preparing for the next important stage of the diagnostic process. On March 18, Bartosz is traveling to Kraków, where he will undergo comprehensive immunological testing.
Every trip like this brings the family a whirlwind of emotions, exhaustion, and stress. At the same time, they hold onto the hope that further tests will bring them closer to the answers they’re still searching for.Thank you for your support so far
Despite his illness and many difficult days Bartek remains a cheerful boy. She greets every day with a smile and the belief that tomorrow might bring something good.
Bartek and his parents would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for coming and for their support so far. They also ask that you continue to accompany them on this journey. March 13, 2026Further important visits and test results
Bartek has another important medical consultation coming up. On March 9, he and his mother will travel to Cape of Hope, where doctors will discuss his latest test results. The family is also very hopeful that the long-awaited genetic test results, which they have been waiting for over six months, will finally arrive. The visit to Krakow is scheduled for March 18. During the consultation, doctors will analyze the test results and discuss further treatment options. After Monday's meeting at Przylądek Nadziei, Bartek's mother will provide new information about his health and the doctors' further decisions. How is Bartek feeling?
At the moment, Bartek is somewhat weakened. He experiences frequent headaches and discomfort in his left leg—stiffness and pain below the knee, which he cannot precisely describe. His family remains under constant medical care and closely monitors his well-being. Bartek's mother would like to express her sincere gratitude for all the greetings, kind words, and support. It gives her tremendous strength on this difficult journey. March 10, 2026

The beginning did not cause any concern.
During the first few years, Bartek's health problems mainly concerned his ears. Recurrent inflammation, ruptured eardrums, and bilateral drainage, which he wore for two years, became part of his everyday life. He underwent eardrum fusion surgery, and with it came the hope that this part of his treatment was now a thing of the past. This belief did not last long.
The symptoms did not form a coherent picture.
In April 2023, Bartek contracted Lyme disease. Over the following months, doctors tried to suppress the disease and stabilize his condition. Problems with his leg and weakness began to affect his daily functioning.
During this time, there was also an accident outside of school. An MRI scan was necessary. The first scan was unsuccessful because Bartek was unable to lie still for long. It was only the next scan, performed in Legnica, that produced a result requiring further diagnosis.
The examination report indicated the presence of fluid in the mastoid processes of the temporal bones on both sides and a non-specific area in the upper part of the cerebellar hemisphere. From that moment on, closer observation became necessary.
Diagnostics has become part of everyday life
Bartek was referred to a neurosurgeon and then to a specialist center. Observation for malignant tumors began. An MRI scan was performed under general anesthesia, and genetic testing was carried out. Further tests confirmed the earlier abnormalities.
Currently, Bartek undergoes an MRI scan every three months. Extended immunological tests are planned in Krakow in the near future. We are still waiting for the results of genetic testing. This is a time when there is no diagnosis yet, but also no sense of security.
Vigilance has become a regular part of the day
Bartek stays at home, but his daily routine is regularly interrupted by trips to specialist centers. The uncertainty associated with the test results affects his well-being. Anxiety disorders have become an additional burden he has to deal with.
School looks different than before. Bartek receives individual tuition. His mother cannot take up employment because she has to be available every day to pick up her son from school and accompany him to his treatment. When cancer was suspected, she also had to seek psychological help herself.
Bartek's older sister also lives at home. For the whole family, this means living in a constant state of readiness, subject to test dates, consultations, and uncertainty that makes it impossible to plan anything in advance.
There are things that allow you to preserve your childhood.
Despite this situation, Bartek remains a twelve-year-old boy. He is interested in soccer and goes to see his favorite team play. He collects Hot Wheels models and LEGO bricks. These interests allow him to take a break from the tension and maintain a sense of normality.
Today, very specific things matter.
Constant diagnostics, regular trips to specialist centers, non-reimbursed medications, and rehabilitation generate costs that become increasingly difficult to bear over time.
However, it is possible to ensure that the everyday life of the child and their family is conducted with a greater sense of security and stability.
