The pain that wouldn't go away
Antoni is thirteen years old. Until recently, his days were like those of most boys his age. School, hobbies, conversations with friends, and dreams about the future filled his everyday life, which seemed calm and predictable.
It all started with severe back pain. At first, it seemed like a passing ailment, but the pain persisted. It lasted for over six weeks, and each day brought another dose of painkillers, which provided only temporary relief.
In November 2025, Antoni was admitted to the Emergency Department at Szaserów Street Hospital in Warsaw. A period of tests and searching for answers to the question of the source of his suffering began.
Searching for a diagnosis
For two weeks, Antoni underwent a series of tests to help doctors determine the cause of his symptoms. Despite many attempts, the answer remained unclear.
Only a PET scan brought them closer to a diagnosis. The boy was taken to the Children's Health Center, where further, very detailed diagnostics began.
The final diagnosis proved to be extremely difficult. Antoni was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Treatment that is already underway
Antoni is currently undergoing chemotherapy. He regularly visits the hospital for scheduled appointments to receive further doses of treatment, and between stages of therapy he stays at home under the care of his loved ones.
At this stage, doctors are focusing on systemic treatment. Only after the sixth dose of chemotherapy, scheduled for May, will a decision be made on whether radiotherapy will be necessary. This is a time of uncertainty, in which each subsequent stage of treatment brings hope for improvement.
A boy who has his passions
Antoni is interested in photography and aviation. These passions allow him to take his mind off his illness and the difficult treatment process, at least for a moment. Whenever he has the strength, he returns to his interests, which remind him that outside the hospital wards there is still a world to which he very much wants to return.
Support that helps you get through treatment
The funds raised during this collection will be used to purchase non-refundable medications, rehabilitation, and psychological care, which is extremely important for both Antoni and his loved ones during this difficult time.
