Changes that are easy to overlook
One day, he started experiencing back pain. At first, it was minor and easy to ignore. Albert thought it was fatigue, perhaps due to overexertion. He was convinced that the pain would go away once he rested. However, days passed and the pain persisted. Over time, disturbing changes also appeared in his intimate areas. That was when Albert decided to consult a doctor.
Diagnosis: two tumors with metastases to the central nervous system
After conducting specialized tests, doctors diagnosed malignant tumors in the testicles and pelvis with metastases. Albert quickly underwent orchidectomy and began chemotherapy. The cost of treatment was high. He developed polyneuropathy and bone necrosis in several places.
Recurrence of the disease
The disease returned in the first half of last year. Doctors decided on radical radiotherapy. It was another attempt to stop the disease. The hope that things would get better did not last long. Unfortunately, changes in the liver soon appeared. Albert's body was already very weak, so emergency chemotherapy had to be administered in smaller doses.
Powerlessness in the fight against treatment
Long-term treatment has left its mark on Albert's body. Every day requires enormous patience and strength on his part. Currently , the only chance for further treatment is an autologous bone marrow transplant, which will enable the use of high-dose chemotherapy. This is a demanding stage of treatment, but it offers the possibility of stopping the disease.
Family and responsibility
Albert is a husband and father of two children. Despite his illness, he tries to maintain as much normality as possible in his family life. Taking advantage of a support program for people with disabilities, he started a small business. Whenever his health allows, he works to cover the ongoing costs of treatment and maintaining his home. It is an effort he makes despite his fatigue and physical weakness.
Albert and his wife are doing everything they can to maintain financial stability and continue treatment. However, the next stages of therapy involve high costs, which are becoming increasingly difficult to bear over time.
