The start of a dramatic battle
On November 15, 2024, Agnieszka felt a large lump under her right armpit. Just a few weeks later, she underwent surgery to remove the mass at a hospital in Parczew. Initially, doctors suspected lymphoma. When another rapidly growing tumor appeared, she began chemotherapy. However, further histopathological tests performed in Lublin revealed that the disease had a completely different cause and was likely breast cancer. Another battle began, along with subsequent cycles of very grueling chemotherapy.
His body was growing weaker and weaker
Although the tumor disappeared after two rounds of chemotherapy, the treatment took a heavy toll on Agnieszka’s body. She required frequent blood and platelet transfusions. She also developed serious complications: thrombosis, sepsis, dizziness, and extreme weakness. Agnieszka left Lublin in a wheelchair, with the suggestion that she be admitted to a hospice. Her family, however, did not give up. Thanks to private rehabilitation using the Bowen method, she partially regained her mobility, and today, despite needing assistance while walking, she is able to continue her treatment in Warsaw. Agnieszka has recently undergone a right axillary lymphadenectomy at the National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw. The next stage of her battle lies ahead—radiation therapy to the breast and armpit.
The treatment took over the whole family's life
The cancer has completely turned the family’s life upside down. Agnieszka had to quit her job as a financial analyst. Her husband quit his job so he could be with her during her treatment and their numerous trips to Warsaw. The family is living on very limited means, and the cost of treatment keeps rising. The trips to Warsaw alone, twice a week, consume a huge portion of the household budget. There are still children at home: a daughter who is a college student and a son attending a vocational school. The hardest part, however, is the daily struggle to maintain mental strength. The illness has also taken a toll on the emotional well-being of her loved ones—her husband and son are struggling with depression, and the entire family lives in constant stress and uncertainty.
Every trip to Warsaw is another expense
The funds raised will be used primarily to cover travel to Warsaw, physical therapy, nutritional supplements, daily medical treatment, and the basic needs of the entire family. The support will also help pay bills, purchase healthier food, fund further physical therapy, and partially cover the costs of a rehabilitation stay at the seaside, which could help Agnieszka regain her strength after very intensive treatment. For every contribution, Agnieszka would like to symbolically give a virtual rose—as a token of gratitude for the help, kindness, and the chance to continue fighting for her health. Every contribution gives this family hope today that they won’t have to choose between treatment and daily life.
