Unexpected recognition

It was supposed to be a simple examination. A few minutes in the ultrasound room, a brief image on the screen and back home. However, it was different. The doctors noticed a change in the abdomen that could not be ignored. Instead of peace, there were questions and uncertainty. Subsequent tests brought less and less hope. MRIs, consultations, more images. In a short time, the diagnosis was made. Malignant neoplasm of the kidney.

Immediate treatment

There was no time to delay. Doctors implemented intensive chemotherapy designed to make the tumor shrink enough for surgical removal. Each cycle weakened the body, but was necessary.

After several months, surgery was performed to remove the tumor - unfortunately, along with the diseased kidney. After the operation, follow-up examinations and preparations for the next stages of treatment continued.

Health problems continue

During the course of oncology treatment, further difficulties arose. Zuzia required major dental surgery. As many as 19 teeth were removed under full anesthesia. Each such anesthesia was an additional risk, another burden on a body that had already been facing chemotherapy, treatments and constant weakness for months.

Hospital daily life

Tests, consultations, hospitalizations, more medical procedures. Days filled with treatment, waiting for results and doctors' decisions. Each successive hospitalization meant new stays in the ward, from which it became increasingly difficult to go home for longer.

A growing list of needs

Medications, rehabilitation, consultations, hygiene products, commuting.... The list of needs grows longer and the costs increase. It's getting harder and harder to handle all the liabilities that come along with the next stages of therapy on our own.
