Update
Continuation of treatment and worrying results
Wojtuś has been undergoing maintenance treatment since February. He is currently feeling relatively well and is at home.
However, recent research findings have revealed some disturbing information. Liver enzymes and kidney parameters are significantly elevated. Further tests are scheduled for March 4 to determine whether chemotherapy will need to be temporarily suspended.Once a week, Wojtuś goes for check-ups and to have the dressing on his Broviac catheter changed. At home, he receives individual tuition and rehabilitation.
We are waiting for further results, hoping that Wojtuś's body will be able to cope with the strain of treatment. March 3, 2026

Signals that could not be overlooked
At the beginning of 2025 , Wojtek's parents noticed that he was starting to weaken. He began to sweat excessively, suffer from leg pain, fever, and fatigue that did not subside despite rest. The boy was becoming paler and paler, and bruises began to appear on his body that could not be reasonably explained.
The parents' vigilance did not fail. These symptoms were not accidental. The diagnosis, which began almost immediately, provided the answer.
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia type B. A blood cancer that intensely enters the lives of children and their loved ones, dominating every aspect of their daily lives.
Treatment that pushes the body to its limits
Action was taken without delay. Chemotherapy was started, a Broviac catheter was inserted, and a bone marrow puncture and biopsy were performed. Medical procedures that are standard in theory actually place a huge strain on a child's body. The therapy was extremely difficult from the outset. An additional challenge was the KMT2A gene mutation, which significantly complicates the course of treatment and limits therapeutic options.
During his treatment, Wojtek suffered from pneumonia twice, COVID infection twice, and sepsis. Each of these complications posed a real threat and required immediate intervention, further weakening his body, which was already struggling to maintain balance every day.
A family in a state of constant readiness
A child's illness leaves no room for predictability. The family's everyday life consists of constantly adapting to Wojtek's changing health situation, living in a state of alertness, and making difficult decisions on a daily basis.
The parents take turns caring for their son at his hospital bedside, while trying to keep the household running. Dad had to quit his job, and Mom is also taking time off work. Wojtek's older brother, 12-year-old Paweł, is waiting at home.
He is also deeply affected by the situation. He misses them, worries about them, and tries to understand why so many things have suddenly become unclear. The parents try to be there for both sons, even though every day brings choices that no one would want to make.
What allows Wojtek to remain a child
When he feels better, Wojtek returns to what gives him a sense of normality. Doing puzzles, painting, and playing games become a safe space where he can momentarily put aside thoughts of treatment and further tests.
Why support is needed
Long-term treatment, one parent giving up work, and a life constantly divided between the hospital and home make the family's situation increasingly difficult, also financially.
The funds raised will help cover daily needs, support the treatment process, and ensure that Wojtek can retain at least a fragment of his childhood during a time that is putting the entire family to the test.
