Wojtek vs. acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Initial symptoms did not suggest anything particularly dangerous, as they were fever and general weakness of the body.

In the course of subsequent tests, it also turned out that the leukemia that Wojtuś faces is of the high-risk kind. This means prolonged treatment with a high probability of complications. Despite the scary prospect of treatment, our Warrior endured it really bravely. Unfortunately, in June 2021, the disease recurred.

Wojtek again settled in the oncology ward of the Upper Silesian Children's Health Center in Katowice, and then went to a clinic in Wroclaw, where he underwent a transplant. So far, the measures did not work, so he underwent specialized CAR-T treatment next. However, this is still not the end of his battle. He still requires specialized treatment, including medication, the monthly cost of which is more than 2 thousand zlotys. Physical rehabilitation and a specialized diet are also necessary to support Wojtek's recovery.

Our little Warrior is a very intelligent boy who observes the world around him with great curiosity. He doesn't have many opportunities to do so due to his health condition, but he takes every possible chance to play chess (at which he is great!), and he also loves games that require thinking and logical solutions. Before he became ill, he played soccer extensively and also explored karate.

Due to our Hero's health condition, Wojtek's entire family has had to undergo a lot of organizational changes in daily life. This also involves the fact that the boy's parents' earning capacity is severely limited, and all funds are rapidly depleting.
