Transplant postponed for the second time
At the end of last year, Tomek completed his last scheduled cycle of chemotherapy and by January he was ready for a bone marrow transplant. Despite dramatic complications, his body regained stability and allowed doctors to qualify him for transplantation. However, it was not a peaceful time. After intensive care, Tomek faced sepsis and a severe allergic reaction to the medications he was given. The situation remained serious for many days, but ultimately the threat was brought under control and stability was restored, paving the way for the next crucial stage of treatment.![]()
Transplant postponed
The procedure was scheduled for mid-February, but at the end of January, the transplant center lost contact with the donor. which made it impossible to perform the transplant on the scheduled date. After the first postponement An additional cycle of chemotherapy to maintain remission was implemented. The new date was set for March 3. This deadline will also not be met. The donor has been temporarily excluded from donating bone marrow for approximately four weeks. The transplant has not been canceled, but postponed again. Each postponement means additional time in which remission must be protected and relapse prevented.Bridge therapy while waiting
To secure the remission achieved, Tomek began another cycle of bridging therapy and is currently staying in the ward. He receives chemotherapy injections that are tailored to be as gentle on his body as possible, after which he will continue oral treatment for 28 days. His body, which has already had to recover from serious complications many times, is once again being put to the test. Each stage requires precision, patience, and vigilance. Consultations are still ongoing regarding off-label therapies, which may be incorporated into Tomek's treatment in subsequent stages. These methods are extremely expensive, but in many cases they are one of the few chances to further halt the disease. Therapeutic decisions are made on an ongoing basis, based on current test results and Tomek's health condition. If doctors decide that it is necessary to immediately begin the next stage of treatment, the time for action will be very limited. We ask for your support and for sharing the fundraiser. Every decision to support Tom brings him closer to the therapy that may determine his future. March 3, 2026We must act now!
We remain in constant contact with Tomek's medical team. Subsequent consultations leave no room for doubt. Further treatment will require solutions that go beyond the standard capabilities of the healthcare system. A decision may be made in the near future. decision on the necessity of donor leukocyte transplantation and menin inhibitor therapy. This is a modern, innovative treatment used in the most advanced centers around the world. These drugs are not routinely available in Poland and must be imported from abroad. including from the United States. Their cost is enormous, and time is of the essence in this situation. Therapeutic decisions are made on an ongoing basis, depending on the test results and Tomek's current state of health. We cannot afford to wait until the last minute. We must be prepared before the final decision on treatment implementation is made.
Preliminary The cost estimate for the therapy we received amounts to PLN 1,700,000. This amount is completely beyond our means. Without your support, we are unable to bear such a burden. When the doctors decide to start treatment immediately, we must be ready. We cannot waste any more days fighting against time and finances. Then all our energy must be focused solely on Tomek's treatment.Thank you for being with us during this most difficult time. We wholeheartedly ask for your help. - parents

Seemingly nothing dangerous
Thomas is fifteen years old. He lived for the movement, passion and freedom that his bicycle gave him. He was able to do everything with it - disassemble, repair, reassemble and go on for more.
The first symptoms that appeared in early August were simply silenced by Tom. A headache? It would pass in a while. A fever? To be beaten!
Initial consultations amounted to reassuring words that it was an infection, nothing dangerous and would pass in a few days.
However, time passed, and Tom's health did not improve. The fever did not go away, and the increasingly frequent headaches were accompanied by marked weakness. Tomasz increasingly gave up leaving the house, training, and what until recently had been his whole world.
Doctors decided to expand the diagnostics. The results of the ordered tests left no doubt. Tom's body was attacked by acute myeloid leukemia
Treatment full of trials and complications
Thomas immediately began treatment. Behind him were biopsies, trepanobiopsies, punctures and painful procedures that are not only physically but also mentally challenging for the 15-year-old.
He was scheduled for four cycles of intensive chemotherapy, and to participate in a clinical trial using the drug Vyxeos, a formulation originally intended for adult patients.
However, the first stage of treatment brought serious complications. Sepsis and inflammatory bowel disease appeared, further weakening the exhausted body. Every day after that is a battle with pain, the effects of the treatment and the constant fear of whether the treatment will work in time.
The goal is to prepare the body for a bone marrow transplant, which offers hope of finally beating the disease.
Life on pause
Tom is 15 years old. At an age when his peers plan workouts and get-togethers with friends, he has been facing the limitations imposed by the disease for months.
The bike, until now a symbol of freedom, passion and adrenaline, now stands unused. He doesn't repair it, doesn't assemble it, doesn't test new routes. Everything that once represented meaning must wait.
Mom is staying with him in the hospital, suspending her professional life.
Waiting at home are older sister Ada and younger brother Nikolai, who are supporting Tom from a distance.
