Update
The tumor is shrinking!
Nelka was scheduled to take a three-week break from chemotherapy, as per protocol. It was the time needed for the body to recover, who had been severely weakened by previous courses of treatment.During this time, under anesthesia, a gastroscopy was performed, and an enteral feeding tube was also inserted. As a result, the treatment became easier to tolerate. The persistent vomiting subsided, the abdominal pain decreased significantly, and Nelka's weight began to slowly increase.
The MRI performed at that time brought very good news—the tumor is shrinking.
The family is still waiting for the results of the genetic tests, which will help doctors determine the next steps in treatment and decide whether the planned radiation therapy will be necessary. April 3, 2026

When the illness returns after a moment of silence
Nela's medical history began in July 2022. That was when she was diagnosed with Wilms' tumor, a malignant kidney tumor. She began chemotherapy treatment, followed by the removal of the tumor along with her kidney and adrenal gland. It was a very difficult time for such a young child and her family . In October 2023, Nela underwent another serious operation to remove a cyst along with her right lung lobe. In the same year , doctors also diagnosed Nela with Mulibrey syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that further complicates treatment. After many months of struggle, the cancer treatment was completed. The family breathed a sigh of relief.
The revival that took away peace
On December 8, 2025, there were more worrying signs that could indicate a return of cancer, with blood appearing in her ear. In January, the extremely difficult news came : a diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS)
Nela began chemotherapy again. She has another seven weeks of treatment ahead of her, followed by imaging in the ninth week to determine whether further treatment is possible and in what direction. Nela has a Broviac catheter, which allows for the administration of drugs and chemotherapy.
Nela is currently in hospital, where she fights for her health every day. She also celebrated her 6th birthday in hospital instead of at home with her family and loved ones. Her mother is with her all the time and does not work, devoting herself entirely to caring for her daughter. Her siblings are at home, looked after by their father, whose job security is also in question. Nela has three siblings: 12-year-old Antos, 9.5-year-old Zosia, and 2.5-year-old Helenka. This is an extremely difficult time for all the children—missing their mother, fearing for their sister's health, and the lack of normal everyday life are a huge emotional burden. The biggest challenge today is living between the hospital and home. Difficulties in organizing care for the siblings, constant commuting, and rising costs make the family's situation increasingly difficult.
Small passions that give strength
Despite her illness, Nela remains a cheerful child. She loves drawing, creating, building with blocks and doing puzzles, and her great passion is ballet. It is these small joys that give her the strength to endure the next stages of treatment. The funds raised will be used for: medication, rehabilitation, and support for the family in this extremely difficult situation. Every donation is real help and a sign that Nela and her loved ones are not alone in this next, very difficult fight for her health and future.
