It started with a thickening. It ended up in the oncology ward

At the end of the summer of 2024, a small but noticeable bulge appeared under the skin between Nadia's neck and shoulder. The parents thought it might be an allergic reaction or a bite - something transient. However, when the lesion persisted, they checked in with their daughter at the hospital's emergency department.

Initially, an enlarged lymph node was suspected, but to be sure, they were referred to the oncology department in Szczecin. There, after detailed diagnostics, the diagnosis was made: fibroma.

The tumor, although benign, was so located that safe removal was not possible. The visible lesion was only a fragment of a much larger mass hidden under the skin, which was nearly 5x2x10 cm!

Treatment that carries both hope and risk

Before decisions were made on further treatment, another lesion appeared under Nadia's collarbone. The cancer didn't wait. It had spread.
Drug therapy was started, which, although modern, is very demanding for the girl's body. It's a treatment that offers a chance, but is not indifferent to the body.

Treatment that protects - and threatens at the same time.

The medicine Nadia takes must be administered under close supervision - first in the hospital, then at home.
Her daily life has been subjected to restrictions: no sun, avoidance of exercise, a special diet, caution at every turn.
But the most worrisome thing is what may or may not happen - the risk of losing her eyesight. Present in the background, like a shadow that does not leave.

Daily life under the sign of caution

Treatment is not just about hospital visits and taking medication. It is also dozens of small decisions that are made every day in the shadow of the disease. Nadia needs a proper diet, supplements and private medical consultations. She also needs hygiene products to mitigate the side effects of therapy and safety during daily activities.

The parents are doing everything to prevent the disease from dominating every aspect of their lives. They fight to ensure that Nadia - despite her limitations - can just be a child. But this struggle, while full of love, requires real resources.
