Good news❗

Recent research has brought cautious relief. A chest CT scan confirmed that the treatment so far is having the desired effect, and there is no need for surgery at this stage. This is important news, which allows us to look with hope at the further course of therapy.

Milosz has completed eight cycles of radiation therapy and has four more cycles of chemotherapy ahead of him. Each successive stage of treatment stresses the body to the limit. After each cycle, he develops a deep exhaustion that requires blood and platelet transfusions to keep the body balanced and ensure the safety of continuing treatment.

Illness is not the only challenge Milosz faces. It is accompanied by selective mutism, making it difficult to communicate freely with loved ones, medical personnel and peers. Despite this, he is able to find his way in the world, which requires him to be brave and trusting in cooperation with adults.

Milosz remains a sensitive, smart boy who has found solace in his passions over the years. He loves board games and building with Legos, which allows him to retain at least a little space of childhood carefreeness at a time when his reality is filled with hospital procedures.

This is a stage where any progress, however small, is of great importance, and the support of others strengthens Milosz where treatment takes away strength. November 21, 2025

The light that was supposed to lead on ❗

The family waited for the histopathology result with impatience and faith that it would be the one to bring respite after months of pain and anxiety. They believed that the few words written on the paper would be like a breath of relief, like the beginning of the story of the end of the disease. However, the diagnosis - a stage one Wilms' tumor - proved apparent in its serenity. It offered no solace, because instead of closing a chapter, it became only a harbinger of the road ahead, the burden of which no one could have predicted. During subsequent inspections, however, new disturbing images emerged. The third visit revealed infiltrates on the diaphragm and lesions in both lungs. This was the moment when hope was pierced by another fear, and the road that was supposed to be easier suddenly became much more difficult. Doctors decided to introduce eight cycles of stronger chemotherapy. Additional treatments are still under consideration: radiation therapy, and possibly another surgery. In September, Milosz will undergo a CT scan, which will indicate whether the path taken offers a chance of stopping the disease. August 29, 2025
