Explore the history of
Mila is 11 years old, and her health problems began in November.
First there was a fever, headache and eye pain, which made the parents concerned. Upon closer observation, they noticed that one eye was exophthalmos. The family doctor made a referral to an ophthalmologist, but appointments were far away. In the meantime, just after the New Year, the eye pain worsened, so the mother took the girl to the ED. There, doctors thought the symptoms might be due to allergies and recommended moisturizing drops.
When the visit to the ophthalmologist finally took place, the specialist immediately saw that the matter was serious and recommended urgent further diagnostics. Another visit to the ED resulted in a CT scan, which showed the presence of a tumor. These words came as a huge shock to the parents of our charge.
Further research was conducted at the Cape of Hope in Wroclaw.
An MRI was performed, after which it was suspected that Mila might have an optic nerve glioma. Unfortunately, due to the approaching winter holidays, it was not possible to continue immediate diagnostics in Wroclaw, so the girl was referred to the Children's Health Center in Warsaw.
There, all tests were repeated and a complicated biopsy was performed, which confirmed the worst fears - he was diagnosed with optic nerve glioma. Treatment is taking place in Wroclaw and includes long-term chemotherapy, scheduled for 56 weeks. Imaging tests will be performed every few months to assess how our client's body is responding to the therapy and whether the treatment is having the desired effect.
Mila's family is doing everything possible to provide her with care, but treatment comes at a huge cost.
Funds raised during the collection will be used for ongoing treatment, private consultations with specialists, travel to the clinic in Warsaw, specialized diet, supplementation and eye care products. Any help is a step towards Mila's health!
