Where it started with a cyst....

Michalina's story began inconspicuously. She had a cyst on her spleen, which had to be checked from time to time with an ultrasound. Each visit was a routine, a moment of mild anxiety, but which quickly passed. That was until June 2024. That's when the doctors saw something no one expected - new lesions in the kidney area. From that moment, the family's calmness gave way to anxiety, and the girl's life took on a completely different dimension.

Diagnosis that stopped time

The pediatrician referred Michalina to "Cape of Hope." There, a CT scan was performed, and the initial suspicion was a monstrosity.

Surgery was soon required. On June 30, 2025, the girl was put on the operating table. The parents waited, trembling with uncertainty. The histopathological result brought the most difficult news - Wilms' tumor, a malignant neoplasm of the kidney, in stage III. From that moment on, the life of Michalina and her loved ones changed irrevocably.

Surgery and the difficult road ahead

The surgery was just the beginning of a long battle. Since July, Michalina has started chemotherapy, which puts a strain on her childhood body, taking away her strength and the joy of everyday life. Behind Michalina is also already 10 cycles of radiation therapy-another hard stage through which the girl had to pass. Each day of treatment is a challenge for her, and for the family it is a constant accompaniment of suffering and struggle for hope.

Childhood dreams interrupted by illness

Until recently, Michalina enjoyed practicing acrobatics and dreamed of ballet. She wanted to dance, twirling in a white dress, floating lightly like a feather. Today, her childhood stopped within the hospital walls, and her dancing plans had to wait. Although the tumor tried to take away her carefree spirit, it failed to extinguish the light in her eyes. It is this light, her courage and determination, that gives strength to those closest to her and to everyone who learns the story of this remarkable girl.
