Until a few weeks ago, we believed that it would be possible to save Marcel's leg. Unfortunately, the disease was merciless - doctors had to make the dramatic decision to amputate his left limb. The surgery is behind him, but now he has a long road ahead of him - post-operative chemotherapy, rehabilitation and learning to live again.

From a roller-coaster fall to a chilling diagnosis
Last summer Marcel spent his time like most teenagers - active, among friends, full of energy and with a smile on his lips. When he took an unfortunate fall while rollerblading, no one imagined that at that moment the drama began. Initially, the blame was attributed to torn tendons. Treatment - conservative. Ointment, rest and hope for a quick recovery....
But the pain did not subside, and the anxiety in the hearts of those closest to him grew stronger. The New Year brought more tests, and with them the doctor's words: "This looks alarming." In February, a biopsy put the final, painful dot - osteosarcoma.
Fighting in the Cape of Hope
Since March, Marcel has been under the constant care of doctors at the Cape of Hope in Wroclaw. Behind him are the first cycles of chemotherapy, ahead of him - months of treatment to stop the cancer from growing. Every day is a battle with pain, side effects and longing for a normal life.
Osteosarcoma is a bone cancer that can take away fitness and dreams in a short period of time.
