Update
Our Warrior has successfully undergone treatment with chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy. However, this does not mean the end of the teenager's struggle to make a full recovery. Chemo works as expected to destroy cancer cells, but at the same time it also destroys healthy cells. This is a very physically and mentally exhausting process that Malvinka is currently facing. The complications the girl has suffered are really serious. Among the negative effects of the treatment are hearing loss in the right ear, severe and excruciating pain in the spine, epilepsy causing paralysis of the right side of the body, and aphasia. During epileptic seizures, the teenager loses her speech and memory, and can't even remember Mom's name, with whom she spends by far the most time. Malwina remains under the vigilant, constant care of specialists: oncologist, ENT, cardiologist, ophthalmologist, endocrinologist, gynecologist, neurologist, dentist, orthodontist (due to a collapsed jaw) and a physical therapist, who helps the girl return to full physical fitness. Due to her health condition, Malwina is currently studying on a one-to-one basis, additionally via the Internet in a remote form. Due to extreme back pain, there are days when lessons end after only a few minutes, as the girl is unable to stand or concentrate on her studies. Despite the hurdles thrown at her teenage legs, Malvinka still manages to enjoy every day. She struggles to return to full fitness in rehabilitation classes, and tries very hard to get the best grades at school, as she would like her teachers to be proud of her. She dreams of returning to her passions as soon as possible, so we encourage you to support this incredibly brave Warrior, who has come an incredibly hard and long way! The treatment has already ended, but there is still a lot of arduous work ahead for our Warrior to return to full strength. Let's help Malwina and her Mom make their dreams come true! August 13, 2024
Explore the history of
Her happy and active life changed dramatically in December 2021, when she and her parents heard a devastating diagnosis - she has a brain tumor in the temporal-parietal-occipital region.
The brave warrior woman successfully underwent surgery to remove a tumor measuring 7x6x2.5 centimeters. However, it was not without post-operative complications.
Such a large tumor left a large hole in Malvina's head, which the brain tried to fill with fluid. This situation resulted in impaired circulation of cerebrospinal fluid and widening of the subarachnoid spaces over the cerebral hemispheres, or so-called hydrocephalus. Necessary to save Malvina's life was the insertion of a medium-pressure ventriculo-peritoneal valve implant.
However, this was not the end of our Warrior's fight. Tests performed at the oncology department showed that there is another tumor in Malvina's head - a hemangioma. For this tumor, unfortunately, surgery is not possible, as it is located in a part of the brain where any surgical interference could cause permanent disability or death to the girl.
Fortunately, there is also positive news in this story. The treatment administered had the desired effect, making the tumor smaller. Malwina has also undergone several weeks of radiation therapy and continued treatment with chemotherapy. After clinical treatment, she will begin long-term rehabilitation, which we hope will allow her to return to as much physical fitness as possible.
All funds raised at the fundraiser will be used for the cost of ongoing treatment rehabilitation and to cover the cost of travel to check-ups. We encourage you to support this brave Warrior and help her in the next stage of her fight against the disease!
"One is truly brave only when one knows even before the fight that one will get a beating, but nevertheless one enters the battle, one way or another, and brings it to the end regardless of the obstacles. One is then rarely victorious, but after all, sometimes one is victorious."
