Update
The girls can finally enjoy a carefree childhood. Recently, after many years, they were able to ring the victory bell! They are officially healthy! October 31, 2024
Explore the history of
It all began at the end of 2020, when the girls' mother noticed a lump on the neck of Lena, who was two years old at the time.
Concerned parents took their daughter to their family doctor, who diagnosed it as a lipoma and said that surgery would be necessary. In preparation for the procedure, the girl underwent a series of tests, including a complete blood count. The blood test results were very poor, which meant that it was impossible to remove the lipoma.
The tests were repeated at the hospital. By then, it was clear that Lena was suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The little warrior was admitted to the "Przylądek Nadziei" (Cape of Hope) clinic in Wrocław. She is currently undergoing maintenance treatment, but still has to visit the clinic regularly for check-ups.
However, this was only the beginning of a long road to recovery for the twins. A puncture revealed that the second sister, Agnieszka, had nearly 90% of her bone marrow affected. The doctors concluded that the girls' leukemia was caused by genetic factors. This is evidenced by the fact that the sisters are identical twins. Agnieszka is currently undergoing a treatment regimen very similar to the one Lena underwent earlier. Aga's case is complicated by the discovery of a heart defect that requires surgery.
Despite the extremely difficult situation, the whole family is not giving up and is bravely fighting for the girls' health and lives. As befits true warriors, the sisters also represent a fighting spirit! They are not going to give up, and we can help them in this uneven struggle by contributing to their fundraiser.
Every donation, even the smallest one, is important and will significantly improve the comfort of Lena and Agnieszka's treatment and increase their chances of returning to normal life.
