Hope dies last❗
The New Year brought news that at first took away strength. At the hospital where Jan has been receiving chemotherapy so far, He was told that the tumor was inoperable. Once again, it proved true that We are as strong as we have been tested. Instead of giving in to helplessness, The family wrung out a new dose of energy and decided to keep looking. It worked - at the National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw, Jan was qualified for the extremely difficult and risky RPLND (retroperitoneal lymphadectomy) surgery. The day of the successful procedure came in April: The tumor was successfully removed in its entirety, with a spare. The fight for life
The first day after the operation gave hope that everything was going just fine. In the evening, however, John's condition rapidly deteriorated. The tumor entwined the aorta for a long time, and when it was removed, the aorta dissected and internal bleeding occurred. Effective immediately Jan was taken to the Ministry of Internal Affairs hospital, where he underwent life-saving surgery.Although it was long and exhausting, has been successful. The next day there was a suspicion of another hemorrhage - another operation was required, which fortunately did not confirm the fears.
Days in a coma and a long convalescence
For three days Jan was in a pharmacological coma, connected to life support equipment. After waking up, he slowly recovered over the following weeks, being transferred from the ICU to the regular ward. Four weeks later, he was able to return home.Challenging rehabilitation
Since then, the family's life has been subordinated to rehabilitation. It's a difficult process that requires patience, because progress doesn't come quickly. A contracture persists in the knee, muscles and nerves are atrophied, but the will to fight remains the same. Jan faces an oncology check-up in October, followed immediately by a six-week rehabilitation camp that offers new hope for recovery. September 05, 2025

The onset of the disease was confusing
The usual leg pain, which seemed harmless. However, with each passing day the pain worsened. John's condition worsened. Consultations with specialist doctors yielded no answers. The road to diagnosis was long, full of question marks and dead ends.
For Emilka, dad is the whole world.
Today that world lies in bed and fights for every move.
Initial diagnosis and surgery
A consultation at the Wielkopolska Oncology Center began a series of tests. A CT scan revealed a tumor in the testicle and suspected metastasis to the abdomen and lungs. In August, Jan underwent an orchidectomy procedure. Shortly after the operation, the acute pain in her leg, which made it impossible to move, returned. The neurologist could not find a cause, and waiting for histopathology results deepened the uncertainty. Although the nodule ultimately contained no cancer cells, the symptoms persisted.
Diagnosis that came late
Only after time was it possible to perform another examination. In Szamotuly, using the laparoscopic method, sections were taken for further analysis, the result of which indicated germinal cancer with metastasis to the lungs. Treatment with chemotherapy at the University Clinical Hospital in Poznan was started. The first two cycles gave hope, but complications arose before the third - a drop in hemoglobin forced a transfusion.
Sepsis, stroke and paralysis
After returning home, Jan's condition deteriorated dramatically. As a result of fever, severe weakness and recurrent syncope, John was hospitalized with sepsis and a life-threatening condition. The next day, he suffered a stroke that left the left side of his body paralyzed. From that moment on, the whole family's life changed completely - they focused on daily care and rehabilitation.
The coming months will be decisive
John needs intensive rehabilitation at home and a specialized treatment at a private clinic. The next three months are crucial to his recovery. Every day without therapy is a risk of losing his chance to regain his independence.
The relatives are asking for support to fulfill the dream of walking together with their daughter Emilka. Any help brings them closer to this goal.
