Follow-up tests and new information
Follow-up examinations performed six months after radiotherapy showed an increase in the size of the acoustic nerve tumor on the left side by another four millimeters. The second tumor in the head, which had previously remained stable, also grew larger. The disease remains active
The results obtained indicate that the disease process continues to progress and requires further therapeutic decisions. There is also space for cautious breathing.
Among difficult news there is also an element of stabilization. The spine and six lesions located there have remained unchanged for six months. and show no further growth.Decisions will be made in the coming days.
A medical consultation will take place next week. Specialists will analyze the current results and make a decision regarding further treatment. This is a period of uncertainty between diagnosis and the next step, which will determine the further course of treatment. February 24, 2026Cyber Knife Radiotherapy
Behind Jacob, the next stage of treatment is Cyber Knife radiation therapy, which aimed to stop tumor growth on the auditory nerve. In January 2026, during a check-up It will become clear whether the irradiation had the desired effect and stopped the growth of the lesion. Side effects of these irradiations include loss of balance and multiple - very severe - dizziness, Which make everyday life challenging and ordinary activities a challenge.Rare disease
Due to the uniqueness of the rare disease that is NF2, the treatment plan proposed by doctors is not always identical. The search for the best treatment path means numerous visits, specialized trips and additional costs, which become another burden. Jacob, supported by his family and doctors, continues to fight relentlessly. Although the disease imposes new limitations, every step, even those bought with effort, takes him further. September 12, 2025Another fight❗ The tumor is growing again❗.
Despite the overwhelming support, hope and good energy with which Jacob was returning to strength, the disease once again made its presence felt. A recent checkup showed that the tumor on his left auditory nerve had grown by 3 mm. While this doesn't seem like much, in such a delicate structure it can mean a real threat to already strained hearing. After consultations and undergoing the necessary procedures, Jakub has been qualified for radiation therapy. The treatment will take place at the Institute of Oncology in Gliwice, using the precise Cyber Knife method - radiation designed to stop further tumor growth and stop hearing loss from worsening.
Four more shifts under observation
On follow-up imaging, the doctors also noticed enlargement of four intraspinal tumors. Because of their location, they remain under close observation. The road that still continues
Diagnosis, treatment, procedures, checks and subsequent decisions are the reality in which Jakub functions on a daily basis. Supported by his loved ones and under the care of the best specialists in Poland, he never stops fighting. Each medical trip is a new stage, another challenge and another step towards hope. July 25, 2025Silence turned into voices of loved ones
It was a day that Jacob will remember forever. After years of gradually increasing silence, after months of indistinct sounds and attempts to communicate despite barriers - he heard his family's voice again. Thanks to modern hearing aids, the purchase of which became possible thanks to your support, Jakub regained the possibility of contact with the outside world. The emotion was enormous. Not long ago there was no chance for this - lack of funds, technological limitations, lack of hope, which today returned! The specialist at the prosthetics studio suggested that braces be put on the other ear as well. This was the turning point. Sound became clear and voices became understandable. Silence was no longer a barrier. Soon, the whole family will begin a sign language course so that communication will never be interrupted - even when the sound starts to get quiet again. It is thanks to you that this day was possible. Thanks to the people who believed it was worth it. Jacob heard his children, and in that one sound was all that mattered. Thank you. September 16, 2024New hope
Thanks to your support, Jacob has been able to begin efforts to get a hearing aid - the only way to keep in touch with the world of sound. He has also begun learning sign language to prepare for what may come. That's not all, however. Thanks to the funds raised, it was also possible to start spinal rehabilitation and purchase less aggravating painkillers. For the first time in a long time, Jacob can realistically think about reducing pain, rather than just surviving. There is emotion in his words:"Until yesterday, I didn't think about braces or physiotherapy. Now I can act. This is amazing. Thank you."This is your contribution. Your presence makes a real difference in his daily life. Thank you - and please: stay with us further. Together we can do even more. August 29, 2024
Explore the history of
Silence broken by alarm signal from inside body
Around three in the morning, Jacob suffered his first ever epileptic seizure. His daughter, who was several years old, was asleep in the other room, and his wife - who was advanced in her pregnancy - was trying to understand what had just happened. This was no accident. In an instant, a world that until then had been peaceful, familiar and safe collapsed.
The diagnosis came like a blow to the void after what seemed stable until recently: neurofibromatosis type 2. A rare and incurable genetic disease that causes tumors to grow in the body, literally everywhere. One of them, the largest one, a fist-sized meningioma, was located in the head. It was removed in an eight-hour operation. As it turned out, this was not the end of the battle, but just the beginning.
20 tumors and increasing pain
Eight cancerous lesions were located in the head alone. Another four tumors were detected in the spinal cord, which cannot be removed. More in the calf, in the feet and in internal organs. In the right ear, silence has fallen forever. In the left ear, hearing is gradually quieting - like a fading radio still trying to catch a signal.
Each day brings different pain. Neurofibromatosis does not respond to chemotherapy. Treatment is limited to what can be cut out or irradiated, but not every tumor offers that chance. The rest remains in Jacob's body, growing and taking away more parts of his daily life.
He served the people, and now he himself needs support
For 12 years Jacob served as a neighborhood policeman. He knew people, their problems and needs. He helped, intervened and supported. Today he needs help himself. Several times he tried to return to work, but his body refused to obey faster than he could reattach his badge.
Treatment has spread across the country, as this is the only way to try to cover his disease. An oncologist in Gliwice. A neurosurgeon in Elblag. An ophthalmologist in Toruń. A laryngologist near Warsaw. Each of these specialties is responsible for a different part of the body that the tumors have attacked. Each consultation, each trip, each night away from home is another cost that cannot be ignored. And after all, there are children waiting at home....
He fights for his family
Antosia and Tymon have a father who teaches them courage every day, although there are times when he himself no longer has the strength. He takes strong painkillers every day just to get out of bed.
He fights for each day, to see his children grow up.
Let's help together
Every form of help is needed: financial support, a kind word, passing on. Treatment, consultations, rehabilitation and commuting are a huge burden. Jacob can no longer shoulder this daily burden on his own.
