Update
We were able to raise the funds needed to purchase the first doses of the drug. Blincyto. The drug had already been prepared and was waiting to be administered, but just before starting the therapy, the doctor decided to perform an additional biopsy. The drug works in patients whose cancer cells show high expression of the CD19 protein. Unfortunately, the results of the biopsy showed that Franek has a very low number of such cells, meaning that the drug would not have a suitable target for action. In this situation, its administration was impossible. This was a huge loss and disappointment - we had placed great hope in this therapy. Faced with the new circumstances, it was necessary to continue standard treatment. Franek has just completed the first protocol - although there were serious complications and we spent a lot of time in the hospital, we remain hopeful. We still have a long way to go, but we believe we will make it. April 24, 2025
Explore the history of
The boy heard the diagnosis: type B acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Instead of kindergarten games, he began a difficult battle for health in the hematology ward.
Treatment was not easy from the start. Frank's body responded to the therapy later than expected, causing him to be classified as high-risk. This meant much longer and more taxing therapy, including intensive chemotherapy - as many as 12-15 doses in just six days. Despite the difficulties, the boy remains a cheerful fighter, always full of energy. He loves animals and shares his passion with others, and his beloved collection of figurines accompanies him every moment he spends in the hospital.
Frank spent Christmas and New Year's Day in the ward, but the whole family believes that next Christmas Eve they will already be able to celebrate together at home. The boy, although he faces tremendous suffering, never complains. Making plans for the future, he has created a list of places he wants to visit as soon as he regains his health.
Being in the high-risk group, however, carries additional risks - a higher risk of relapse and side effects of intensive chemotherapy, such as the possibility of developing other cancers in the future. Franek spends long weeks in the hospital, battling complications from his treatment. His body requires frequent blood transfusions, and his liver enzymes are reaching alarming levels.
However, there is hope - therapy with the modern drug Blincyto, which uses immunotherapy to mobilize the immune system in the fight against cancer. It is an innovative method that could significantly improve the boy's chances of recovery. Unfortunately, the cost of a 28-day cycle is as much as PLN 120,000, and Frank will need at least two such cycles.
The family's financial situation has become complicated - one of the parents had to give up work to support the boy's health. The cost of treatment is far beyond their means, so help is needed.
We believe that together we will be able to raise funds that will allow Frank to recover quickly and live a life free of relapse. Any help is of great importance.
