Update
Franio regularly comes to Cape of Hope for check-ups, where he is cared for in the day unit. Fortunately, his results are very good, and his mood - even better! This brave little Warrior shows his strength and smile every day. Recently he got the long-awaited approval from the doctor - from September he will be able to go to kindergarten! Franio is looking forward to meeting his peers and starting a new stage in his life. May 9, 2025
Explore the history of
They presumed a milk-induced allergy, but tests did not confirm this.
When the boy turned three months old, abscesses appeared in the anal area. The parents consulted doctors from a hospital in Poznan and came for weekly visits for medical procedures. These, however, brought no relief, but actually made the situation worse.
Terrified parents took their son to another facility, where doctors decided to refer the toddler for a genetic test at the Children's Health Center in Warsaw. There the doctors' assumptions were confirmed, the boy suffers from chronic granulomatous disease. Franek was transferred to the "Cape of Hope" in Wroclaw and the search for a donor for a bone marrow transplant began.
The first transplant date was set for May 9. However, it did not materialize because tests on the potential donor ruled out taking bone marrow from him.
A month later, Frank's mom received news that another donor had been found, and the transplant was scheduled for July 9.
Since then, our Warrior has been staying with his mom or dad in the transplant unit. It is too early to judge how long the treatment will last and what results it will bring. One thing is certain, however - Franek is fighting bravely and has the support of equally brave parents.
We ask for any support, even the smallest, for our Mentee and his young parents during this difficult time!
