The price of fighting leukemia is still very high
Although intensive oncology treatment has been completed, Sebastian's daily life is still far from normal.Controls in Cape Hope
At this point, follow-up visits to "Cape of Hope" take place every two months. This is a step forward that provides a shadow of relief. However, complications from chemotherapy do not let up and require further specialized treatment.
Complications after oncology treatment cont.
The condition of the teeth proved to be particularly acute as a result of the treatment. Years of intensive treatment have severely damaged them. Treating the teeth and restoring them comes at a huge cost. Presented The cost estimate is PLN 35500. It's not just a matter of aesthetics, but more importantly of health, comfort and quality of life. July 22, 2025 Sebastian regularly comes to "Cape of Hope" for check-ups, which now take place every two months instead of every month. Despite completing intensive treatment, he is struggling with numerous complications from chemotherapy, which require expensive treatment. Still too far from peace
Disturbing weakness and a sudden loss of appetite interrupted the holiday calm. While on vacation in August, Sebastian unexpectedly became unwell. His family, concerned about his condition, immediately took him to a hospital in Hamburg. There, after a series of specialized tests, the diagnosis was made: T-type acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
A fight far from home
Sebastian underwent the first stage of treatment away from everything known and safe. After five weeks, he was taken to the "Cape of Hope" clinic in Wroclaw, where intensive therapy began.
For a while, everything seemed to indicate that the treatment was having the desired effect. Unfortunately, in 2020 there was a recurrence. The disease returned - suddenly, violently, forcefully.
In January 2021, on the 21st of the month to be exact, Sebastian underwent a bone marrow transplant. The long weeks spent in the post-transplant ward ended with his return home. This, however, did not mean the end of the fight.
Life after treatment full of challenges
Sebastian still visits the "Cape of Hope" on a regular basis. Each trip is several hundred kilometers that separate him from the place where he once fought his most important battle. Although his cancer treatment has ended, its effects remain.
After oncology treatment, he was diagnosed:
- osteoporosis
- necrosis of the femoral head in both legs
Pain, movement limitations and fear of relapse accompany him every day. With specialized medication, he can function, but he is not yet sure what tomorrow will bring.
