Update

St. Paul vs. very serious complications of cancer treatment❗ Brave Paul is still facing the serious consequences of the disease that attacked him in the fall of 2017. His story began quite innocently, as it began with ordinary leg pain. A few months later, in January 2018, a biopsy revealed that there was a malignant tumor on Paul's lower leg, known as undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma. In the case of our Warrior, it is a stage four sarcoma, with additional metastasis from the lower leg to the knee, hip and lung. Immediately after the diagnosis, treatment was implemented and chemotherapy began. In the fall of 2018, Paul also underwent radiation therapy, after which he also had to undergo maintenance chemotherapy, which ended in June 2019. However, this was not the end of an uneven battle with a very complicated rival. Before he could even begin radiation therapy, he underwent surgery in May 2018 to remove the tumor along with the fibula and fibular nerve. Once chemotherapy was completed, doctors were able to perform a fibular nerve transplant, which took place in September 2019. Although it has been five years since the transplant, unfortunately, the nerve still does not perform its function today. In addition, our Warrior has undergone a number of other very demanding procedures, including lengthening of the Achilles tendon, and just before his eighteenth birthday a procedure to permanently fuse the ankle joint, known as arthrodesis, was performed. This means that Paul's ankle is now immobile. The oncology treatment was successful, and in June 2024 Paul celebrated his fifth anniversary of living in remission - the most important five years of his life, according to his Mom. Unfortunately, the demanding and prolonged treatment, which was also accompanied by a number of complicated procedures, brought its own negative effects, and now our charge is struggling with gigantic complications. Paul has damaged intestines, thyroid, heart, kidneys and considerable neurological problems - during chemotherapy Paul suffered a mild stroke. He currently gets around on crutches, as the limb where the tumor was located is not very functional and shorter than the other limb. A wheelchair is necessary for longer distances. Such a difficult situation, however, has not caused a collapse in our charge's will to fight! He regularly and diligently attends check-ups with all specialists, performs a multitude of examinations to control his health on a regular basis, and participates in rehabilitation classes. Paul is an extremely brave and ambitious teenager. He finished elementary school with very good results, and this school year he is attending his final year at his dream electronics technical school, where he is studying to become a computer graphic designer. In the future, he would very much like to work in this profession, although for now he still needs support to return to a functioning daily life. The cost of commuting and visits to specialists puts a significant strain on his family's household budget, so we encourage you to support Paul, as well as his Mom and older brothers, so this incredibly strong young man can enter adulthood! He is a 19-year-old full of dreams and plans, who deserves every form of support. Let's not let his tremendous efforts go to waste! October 4, 2024

Explore the history of

He was diagnosed with undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma with metastases to the knee and hip.

He immediately began treatment with chemotherapy. In May 2018, it became necessary to remove the fibula and the fibular nerve in his right leg because that's where the focus of the disease was.

Our Hero has gone through radiation therapy, many cycles of chemotherapy and fibular nerve reconstruction surgery. Clinical treatment has come to an end and Paul has been cancer-free for 3 years. Frequent follow-up visits and treatment of complications from chemotherapy and radiation therapy are still necessary. Rehabilitation is also ongoing to bring the leg to full function.

We encourage you to support - every contribution, even the smallest, is important and brings Paul closer to a return to full fitness.
