Danger under the skin

On March 31, 2025, Patricia felt a lump in her breast. At first it seemed like a trifle, something that would disappear without a trace and allow her to return to her daily calm. Meanwhile, tests stripped away the illusions and brought a diagnosis: breast cancer with metastasis to the lymph nodes. It fell at a special moment when her entire life was focused on expecting a child. Instead of joy and certainty of the future, there was fear, which in an instant placed a double burden on her heart.

A time of chemistry and constant care for two lives

Patricia's treatment had to be carried out under special supervision. Fighting cancer during pregnancy is always fraught with risks for mother and child. That's why she was referred to the Polish Mother's Memorial Health Center Institute in Lodz, where she could begin treatment under the best possible conditions.

There she was administered pre-operative chemotherapy, each cycle of which meant cachexia, anxiety and long hours spent in hospital rooms. Instead of ordinary days and plans, Patricia's future centered around IVs, tests and doctors' decisions on which her life and the life of her child depended.

Living under the pressure of cost and anxiety

The disease took away Patricia's ability to work, and with it a sense of stability and security. All of her savings have melted away under the strain of medical costs, transportation and preparations for the upcoming surgery. Everyday life, which not long ago was simple and predictable, now requires the support of others. Bills, unreimbursed medications or necessary rehabilitation after surgery have become a burden beyond one's strength at the present moment.

To live happily ever after

Patricia has always found solace in simple things: in walks that allowed her to catch her breath, in travel that opened new perspectives and in books that allowed her to stop for a moment and look at life from a different angle. Today, her deepest desire is to be a mother who will be a fixture for her child for years to come, in the ordinary, peaceful life so much desired today.
