Oscar is fighting a malignant tumor - Burkitt's lymphoma

What he has experienced over the past several months is best told to you by the 17-year-old himself:

"My name is Oskar. I am 17 years old.

Sports is my passion, to which I devoted every free moment. For two years, I worked out intensively at the gym six days a week. I regularly played soccer. With friends, we founded a neighborhood soccer team, FC Hurricane. From July 28, 2023, my life and that of my family turned upside down - in one day I lost the realization of my dreams, plans and set sports goals.

It all started with a slight abdominal pain. At first I thought it was mild indigestion or pain caused by exertion at the gym. However, the pain did not go away, and even got worse. On July 25, I went with my mother to the pediatrician, who ordered tests, i.e., blood count and abdominal ultrasound. Two days later, we returned to the doctor with the results of the morphology tests. The ultrasound could not be performed, as the date was not set until August 23.

The test results were generally good, only the CRP was elevated. The doctor didn't want to wait that long for an ultrasound, so she referred me to a hospital in Walbrzych that same day to have it done "right away." When the examination was performed on July 28, I felt that something was wrong. I was examined by five doctors, who decided to transport me to Wroclaw. Neither my mother nor I were informed which hospital we were going to. All we heard was that we needed to extend the diagnostics, and it couldn't be done in Walbrzych. Only in the ambulance did Mom ask which hospital we were going to. And then we heard that to "Cape of Hope".

I quickly looked up on the Internet what kind of hospital it was and then my mother saw the fear and tears in my eyes. At the "Cape of Hope" we were informed that there were suspicions of cancer and from that day my life turned inside out....

Since my admission to the clinic, I have undergone a number of tests, including a biopsy of my bone marrow and one of several tumors I had in my abdomen. On August 4, the result came - malignant tumor, Burkitt's lymphoma. The very next day treatment was implemented. I received my first chemotherapy and steroids. I am scheduled for very intensive treatment due to the very rapid multiplication of cancer cells. Five cycles of chemo have been scheduled, which are given at three-week intervals. This chemotherapy is very strong and aggressive to the body.

I have been touched by a terrible disease that I have to face. I have a difficult battle ahead of me, which I am undertaking and I am not going to give up. This is the most difficult time in my life, but also in the lives of my family - my parents, sister, grandparents and friends."

Every day Oskar takes up the gauntlet to fight against the difficulties brought by the disease. He wants to recover as soon as possible and return to sports and pursue his dreams.
