The escape, which was the beginning of
Olga left her native country with one desire - to create a life for herself and her daughter free of fear. She dreamed of ordinariness: a childhood without violence, a woman's destiny in which there is no need to fight for respect. However, before she could even come close to that peace, she went through hell. Her partner abused her mentally and physically. Running away was a necessity. She knew that if she wanted to save herself and her daughter, she couldn't look back.
Small house, big relief
With time came a job, an apartment, a school for her daughter. Small steps that added up to the first sense of security. Finally, they could breathe. Among strangers, she found kindness - quiet and selfless, which restored her faith that goodness really exists. She began to believe that everything could still work out. Step by step, she built a home where there is no need to fight for each day. A home where there is room not only for survival, but also for caring. It was then that she found a moment to take care of herself. For the first time in a long time.
Diagnosis and again a heart filled with fear
Tests postponed for months did not bring relief, but another blow. Malignant breast cancer. A diagnosis that came at a time when life was barely able to be put together. When everyday life finally began to settle into something resembling normalcy.
She fled violence, today fights cancer
Olga is facing a long and devastating treatment. Chemotherapy and then surgery. Her body is already showing signs of fatigue, and her psyche - scarred by previous experiences - is struggling to carry the new burden. There are days when she finds it difficult to get out of bed, and yet she gets up - because she has someone to get up for. Her daughter is not only the reason, but also the answer. All the strength is contained in this one, most important presence.
Loneliness that cannot be powerlessness
Olga can't stop working, though she has no strength left. She can't stop being a mom, although her body is increasingly giving up. That's why she asks for help - not only for herself, but also for her beloved daughter, who sees her mother disappear before her eyes every day.
Sometimes all that is left is one quiet: I have to, because a pair of beloved child's eyes are looking at me.
