A little dancer with a huge heart
Olga is only 2 years old, and already has to fight a battle that no child should ever experience. Joyful, curious about the world and full of energy, the girl has always brought a lot of smiles into the house. Today her loved ones dream of one thing, to see that carefree smile again every day.
The beginning of a difficult road
At the end of September , Olga developed the first alarming symptoms - increased nosebleeds, petechiae on the skin, pain in the limbs and extreme weakness.
Morphological tests showed serious abnormalities, and further diagnostics confirmed the dramatic diagnosis: acute B-cell leukemia. For the family, it was a shock. In an instant, their lives turned into a daily battle for the health and future of their beloved daughter.
Challenging treatment
Since early October, Olga has been in the pediatric hematology department of the University Clinical Center in Gdansk. She has already undergone an intensive cycle of chemotherapy according to the AIEOP-BFM ALL 2017 protocol, which was associated with many side effects - an allergic reaction after cryoprecipitate administration, severe myelosuppression and blood clotting disorders. Norovirus infection of the gastrointestinal tract proved to be an additional burden. Despite this, Olga has bravely endured treatment, and doctors emphasize that she has tremendous strength in her that they would not have expected in such a young child.
A family in tears
Olga remains in the hospital under the constant care of her mom, while her dad takes care of the girl's four-month-old baby brother at home. The family currently lives on two houses - between Cekcyn and Gdansk.
The separation, uncertainty and daily commute are a huge challenge for them, but despite the fatigue and stress, the parents do not lose hope. They know that each day of struggle brings Olga closer to health.
Strength that grows despite illness
Despite the difficult days, Olga remains the same cheerful and curious little girl. She loves to draw, look through books, put together puzzles and dance to her favorite tunes. It is these small moments of carefreeness that give her and her parents encouragement during the hardest times.
Today Olga and her family are struggling to recover
The funds raised will be used for unreimbursed medications, transportation to medical facilities, consultations with specialists, proper diet and supplementation, which are essential for the girl to recover as quickly as possible. Every gesture of support, kind word or prayer gives the family a great feeling that they are not alone in this fight. Let's help Olga recover so that she can dance, laugh and explore the world again like any child her age.
