Two hearts and one fight
No one is prepared for words that suddenly change the meaning of everything. It's even harder to hear them in a moment of joyful anticipation, when a new life is ripening under the heart.
For Monica , this special time turned into a fight for life. An inconspicuouscyst in the breast, which appeared on ultrasound once to be invisible in a moment, increased anxiety with each subsequent examination, until finally doctors decided on a biopsy.
In October 2025, the result arrived. Invasive carcinoma of the breast gland, type NOS G3, with an extremely aggressive course (Ki67 >80%).
She was just weeks away from giving birth. Instead of preparing for the birth of her baby, she had to prepare for her first chemotherapy treatment.
The first two cycles were scheduled before the birth. The next two are scheduled to take place after the baby is born.
Motherhood in the shadow of illness
Monica has a seven-year-old son and a husband, with whom everyday life has turned into a constant test of strength.
Every day requires her to be brave, which manifests itself in her attempts to reconcile her treatment with child care, her tired body with her duties, and her fear with a love that won't let her give up.
Chemotherapy brings weakness, pain and nausea, further straining a body already strained by pregnancy.
Nevertheless, Monica persists. She gets up in the morning, prepares breakfast, spends time with her son and does her best to keep his world from falling apart along with her own.
This fight is no longer just for herself. It's a fight for her children's childhood, for their peace of mind and the security she wants to provide for them, no matter what.
The birth of hope
After the birth, Monica faces surgery to remove her breasts and lymph nodes, followed by immune therapy and rehabilitation.
If Monica's health deteriorates, her husband will have to give up work to take care of the children and the house. This is a difficult time in which every gesture of support makes a difference.
