Update

Just a moment ago, we shared the news about Mariola's successful surgery. At that point, it seemed that the treatment was beginning to bring the desired relief. Today, however, we return with news that once again confronts Mariola with an extremely difficult reality.
"My world fell apart into a million pieces again."
After the surgery we wrote about in our previous update, it was time for a follow-up CT scan. The test was supposed to be another step in checking whether everything was going according to the treatment plan. Unfortunately, The CT scan showed the presence of metastases in the liver and bones. A PET scan confirmed their presence.
"What I fear most is whether I will be able to watch my son grow up."
Mariola is the mother of a six-year-old boy who has been growing up in the shadow of his mother's illness for three years. He is accompanied by hospital visits, further tests, and moments when he sees his mother trying to remain calm, even though she is fighting a difficult battle with fear in her heart. For a parent, there is no more moving thought than the question about their child's future, asked at a time when their own tomorrow is no longer a certainty. Mariola often says that is fighting primarily for his son. She does not talk about it as something extraordinary. Rather, she talks about it as a natural instinct of a mother who wants to remain present in her child's life for as long as possible. This desire to protect him from a future in which she might not be present.
500,000 PLN for a chance at treatment
Doctors indicated the possibility of treatment at a German clinic, where regional chemotherapy is used. This treatment differs from the methods available in Poland and offers the chance to halt the disease and prolong life. Unfortunately, this therapy is not reimbursed, and its cost reaches approximately PLN 500,000. This is an amount that Mariola is unable to bear on her own.
"I want to live..."
Today, Mariola is asking for your help and for you to continue sharing her fundraiser. She is surrounded by many good people and is deeply grateful for every act of kindness shown to her. Moved by the story of this struggle, we ask you to pause for a moment and reflect on it. We have repeatedly demonstrated the immense power of a community of people who are sensitive to the suffering of others. How much can be achieved when kindness, empathy, and a willingness to work together are present alongside a sick person. Today, this strength can become a source of hope for Mariola and an opportunity for further treatment. March 6, 2026
We would like to share some important news about the next step in Mariola's treatment, which was made possible thanks to your support!
On December 4, 2025, I underwent lymphatic-venous anastomosis surgery. The operation went smoothly, and the results have been tremendous for me. For the first time since having all my lymph nodes removed, I got rid of the persistent swelling that had been with me every day.
For me, this is not only physical relief, but also great hope for greater fitness and normality. Thank you from the bottom of my heart—without you, this step would not have been possible.
The treatment brought about a marked improvement, but the road to full stabilization is still ongoing. Mariola continues to require treatment, monitoring, and support in her return to fitness. March 3, 2026

A few weeks later, a biopsy confirmed the diagnosis that turned her life into a nightmare - malignant breast cancer with metastasis to the lymph nodes. The information took away her sense of stability in an instant.

She was flooded with fear and anxiety about the future - especially about the fate of her less than three-year-old son. Despite her fear, she understood that she had to fight. She decided to take this step for her child and family. She still had dreams to realize, and cancer, she noted, doesn't look at age. The disease took control, but she decided to face it head on.

In July and September 2023, she underwent two difficult surgeries - a mastectomy and a lymphadenectomy, during which all lymph nodes were removed from her right arm. Then, in October, she began intensive treatment consisting of 16 chemotherapy infusions and radiation therapy. This therapy, although necessary, greatly devastated her body. The treatment ended in May 2024, but our charge still has a long way to go. Mariola faces reconstruction of her amputated breast and a daily battle with painful lymphedema, resulting from the absence of lymph nodes. This swelling covers the arm and the amputation site, causing pain and restrictions in movement.

Regular rehabilitation is needed to stop the progression of swelling. The hope for a permanent improvement in her condition is lymphatic-venous anastomosis surgery, which could restore her function. Unfortunately, this is an expensive procedure that she cannot afford. Her greatest strength and motivation comes from her love for her four-and-a-half-year-old son. It is for him that she finds the courage every day to keep fighting. She dreams of watching her child grow up, discover the world and fulfill his dreams. She wants to enjoy every moment spent with him, his family and friends. She wants to be present in his life, support him and accompany him on his journey through the world.

Her appeal for help is full of hope. Every zloty and every sharing of the collection brings her closer to the possibility of successful treatment and recovery. For every form of support and every kind word, she expresses her gratitude from the bottom of her heart.
