Cancer interrupted Marcel's carefree childhood

In November 2024, he underwent major surgery, during which the tumor and right adrenal gland were removed.

The histopathology result was devastating - he was diagnosed with malignant adrenocortical carcinoma, an extremely rare type of cancer that is virtually uncommon in such young children. It most often affects adults or older children, which makes Marcel's case extremely difficult.

The past few months have been extremely difficult for him and his family. Marcel has undergone a long and demanding road of treatment, which was marked by many complications. Twice blood transfusions were required, and in addition the boy had to contend with sepsis and a coronavirus infection. Despite these difficulties, Marcel fought bravely, and now he faces the next, equally important part of the process - detailed diagnostics. Adrenocortical cancer is a very invasive type of cancer that, unfortunately, often gives recurrences, so constant control and monitoring of the condition are essential.

In addition to further treatment, Marcel also needs to regain full physical fitness. Before the operation, the boy was crawling and standing up, but as a result of his illness, his muscles have weakened considerably, which now prevents him from moving freely. A very important part of his recovery will also be working on the surgical scar, which runs from his chest down to below his navel. This scar requires proper rehabilitation to prevent movement restrictions and possible complications.

All these challenges make intensive rehabilitation a necessity so that Marcel can return to full fitness and enjoy a carefree childhood.

The funds raised during the collection will mainly be used to cover the cost of rehabilitation, travel to the hospital and other costs associated with treatment.
