A little warrior with a big heart

Lenka Nycz is 10.5 years old and is an extremely energetic, joyful and full of life little girl. She always infects with a smile, curiosity about the world and cheerfulness. Unfortunately, fate has put her to a huge test for the second time - Lenka is again struggling with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

The beginning of a difficult road

In September 2020, the first alarming symptoms appeared: enlarged lymph nodes, pale skin, weakness, pain in the limbs and fever. Blood tests performed by a pediatrician showed alarming results, so she was urgently taken to a hospital in Bielsko-Biała and then to Zabrze, where the final diagnosis was made - leukemia.

Two years of struggle and hope

The long, two-year treatment began. Lenka bravely went through every stage of it, and the whole family lived in hope that the disease would never return. Unfortunately, after more than two years, there was a recurrence. The news of the recurrence was a blow to everyone - most of all to Lenka herself, who knew full well what a difficult road awaited her again.

Resumption and another battle in Cape Hope

For the past few months, Lenka has been staying at the Cape of Hope Clinic in Wroclaw, where she is facing the next stages of treatment with great courage. She has had treatment with the drug Blinatumomab, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. It has been an extremely difficult time, full of pain and uncertainty, but Lenka has not lost her fighting spirit for a moment.

A family between two houses

Lenka is in the hospital under the constant care of her mom, who accompanies her every step of her treatment. Dad stayed at home and visits his daughter and wife in the hospital as soon as possible. At home remains older sister Olive who misses her little sister very much. The family now lives in two homes - the cape one and the family one. Separation, daily fear and longing are a huge challenge for them. The separation of the sisters is particularly difficult, but both believe that soon they will be able to be together again in their home, without hospital walls and restrictions.

The power that comes from passion

Despite her illness, Lenka still remains the same cheerful and creative girl. She loves to paint and create various artworks - it's her way of expressing emotions and escaping into the colorful world of imagination. Whenever she has the strength, she enjoys putting together LEGO bricks and playing board games. She is currently struggling with a lot of pain, swollen oral mucous membranes, and difficulty drinking and eating - one of the biggest challenges of recent days. Despite this, every day she demonstrates the tremendous power of hope, determination and childlike strength.

She still has difficult months of treatment ahead of her, but every day brings her closer to her goal. Every kind word, gesture of support or prayer gives them strength and helps them believe that there are many more beautiful, healthy days ahead for Lenka.
