Update
Step by step towards normalcy!
Laura has already completed another cycle of chemotherapy under Protocol M. She has two more ahead of her, and then the last one under Protocol II.After that will come a year and a half of maintenance treatment, which is supposed to consolidate the effects of the therapy and finally allow a respite from the most severe procedures
Moments of respite
Laura endures each cycle bravely, although painful, allergic outbreaks appear on her face and body shortly afterwards. This is a side effect that brings discomfort and fatigue, but the overall condition remains stable nonetheless. After three extremely demanding months, there was finally space to catch a breath and feel that, at least for a while, lighter days had arrived.
Home and back to the hospital
Since September 28, Laura's loved ones have been able to enjoy her presence at home again. Although this time will be short-lived, the moments spent together bring solace to the family. As early as October 8, the girl will return to the hospital for another cycle, combined with an LP and several days of chemotherapy. The four days spent hooked up to the apparatus are particularly difficult for her - full of energy and movement, she has to struggle with immobilization in a hospital bed.A COVETED REMISSION!!!
September 6 became the day the family waited for with bated breath. Tests confirmed remission. This is the result of an extremely demanding 45-day cycle of chemotherapy and treatment with a drug from the clinical program. Now the hope remains that this condition will take hold, and with the start of the new year Laura will complete the hardest stage of therapy and enter the maintenance phase, in which chemotherapy will be administered only in pills, and daily life will be filled mainly with follow-up appointments.Daily life subjugated to struggle
Laura's mom is focusing all her energies today on Laura's health. Returning to work, to the people, to the everyday life she enjoyed must wait - the most important thing now is Laura! September 29, 2025First stage of treatment failed
Behind Laura is the first cycle of chemotherapy. Unfortunately - LP results will not confirmły remission, on whichórTHAT is what we were all hoping for so much. The disease did not regress as the doctors assumed. This means one thing - treatment must beć continued in a more intensive, expanded form.Gene mutation complicates therapyę
The test result revealed the presence of a genetic mutation, whichthat canThat they make it difficult to achieve complete remission. This worrying signal led doctors to decide to include an additional drug - dostavailable only as part of ongoing clinical trials. The treatment is experimental, but offers a shadow of hope where the schemes fail.![]()
Another chapter of the struggle lies ahead for Laura
Expanded chemotherapy, a new - experimental-drug, continuous research and vigilanceTHE FIGHT OF THE DOCTORS. All this adds up to the coming weeks, whichbll be prmeansThey are a time of strength for the body and spirit. It is a time full of hope, but also a time of tremendous effort. Explore the history of
Anxiety that has grown into a diagnosis
Laura was born on June 22, 2021, a long-awaited, dreamed-of birth. Her birth was a dream come true for the whole family. Every moment with her brought joy and energy, which was immediately shared by everyone around. It was always going to be like this. In May of this year, a fever appeared. The doctor recommended an antibiotic and a CRP test, but Laura's condition did not improve. On Saturday morning, May 18, the girl struggled to get out of bed. Concerned about their daughter's condition, the parents decided to immediately take blood tests to check the CRP level. A few dozen minutes later, the phone rang: "Life-threatening condition - please go to the ED immediately."
Cape of Hope instead of returning home
After being promptly admitted to the hospital, further tests were performed, which confirmed the earlier results. Doctors immediately started blood and platelet transfusions. Immediately afterwards, a decision was made to urgently transport Laura to the "Cape of Hope" Clinic in Wroclaw. There, after further diagnostics, on May 20, 2025, a final diagnosis was made: acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Three days later, on May 22 - exactly one month before her fourth birthday - Laura began cancer treatment. In an instant, her childhood was replaced by cycles of chemotherapy, tests, stays in isolation rooms and separation from loved ones.
A family in tears
Laura and mom are now living in the hospital. Dad and older brother have remained at home, trying to maintain daily life in a world that is no longer the same. The grandparents are anxiously waiting for news, missing Laura's childish laughter.
Every day costs more
Treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a long and grueling process. Everyday life in the clinic means huge costs: medicines, commuting, hygiene products, rehabilitation, specialized diet and equipment for hospital "everyday life". The family needs help to focus on what matters most - the health of their little princess.
Together we can do more
Four-year-old Laura proves every day that she can be strong beyond measure. Her strength, however, is not enough. She also needs specific resources to get through treatment and return to a world that stopped in May.
Let's help her get back there. To her brother, to her mom and dad. To grandma and grandpa. To normalcy.
