Inoperable stage IV cervical cancer❗The disease robbed Kasia of her strength and sense of security❗

The diagnosis left no choice.

Squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix, HPV-dependent, FIGO stage 4B. Inoperable tumor. At the end of September 2025, these words closed the door on Katarzyna's previous life, opening up a reality in which the only things that matter are endurance in the face of daily suffering and attempts to grasp the hope that constantly slips through her fingers. From that moment on, every day is devoted to treatment and waiting, with no certainty that the body will be able to bear the next burden.

A body without strength

Katarzyna underwent 26 radiotherapy sessions and 5 cisplatin chemotherapy infusions. She finished treatment on December 31, but instead of relief, she experiencedextreme weakness. Severe vomiting, weight loss of up to 24 kilograms, dizziness, and sudden drops in blood pressure made even the simplest tasks seem like almost impossible challenges.

She was supposed to start brachytherapy on January 5, but on that day her blood pressure dropped to 79 over 51. She remained in the hospital. Her body simply refused to cooperate.

Complications sap what little strength remains

Chemotherapy caused premature menopause, which further exacerbates the deterioration of her body and makes everyday life even more difficult to bear. Katarzyna struggles with low blood pressure and constant weakness. She is also waiting for the results of a breast and thyroid biopsy, where more tumors were detected. Until she receives them, she cannot receive treatment to alleviate the symptoms of menopause. A moment of hope has given way to another wave of uncertainty.

They are together and trying to survive.

Katarzyna had to quit her job. Being employed on a contract basis meant that she was not entitled to sick leave or any financial security during illness. Her husband, who works beyond his strength to provide them with a minimum of stability , remained the sole breadwinner of the family. He also lost a lot of weight. Losing 25 kilograms has had an impact on his health and daily functioning.

Katarzyna's mother is also battling breast cancer. The disease struck this family from several sides at once, leaving them feeling alone and helpless.
