When the body demands attention

Severe pain in the left groin and increasing difficulty in moving with each passing day began to trouble Justina in April 2022. Over time, assuming an upright body position became almost impossible. These physically based complaints were joined by urethral bleeding, which no longer allowed to look for uncertain answers and random explanations. A medical consultation and tests were necessary. Their results showed something that Justina, in her farthest speculations, did not expect - a diagnosis of bladder cancer pT1 High grade. In an instant, what was previously hidden took on a dramatic dimension, suddenly becoming the main and only topic in her life.

Faced with a diagnosis

Treatment began, which required determination and calm in the face of uncertainty. On July 4, 2025, Justina underwent a TURBT procedure, during which a drain was placed in her left kidney and a catheter was inserted. It was a moment when hope mixed with fear and the knowledge that the disease had been named brought relief, but also the burden of knowing what was yet to come.

The next step was the October 17 bladder mapping and removal of the DJ drain. At the same time, BCG therapy was implemented to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. This treatment requires regularity, patience and readiness for side effects. In Justyna's case, one of them has become progressive old-sightedness, which, in addition to hindering daily functioning, is a reminder of the price the body pays for fighting the disease.

Living between pain and the desire for peace

Since the diagnosis, Justyna's life has been subordinated to treatment. Professional work receded into the background, giving way to a daily struggle with the pain and limitations that came with the disease. Each day became an attempt to maintain a balance between physical fatigue and the desire for at least temporary peace.

The emotions that accompany Justina's illness are extreme. Every day , gratitude for each better day, stands against the fear of what tomorrow will bring. With the successive stages of treatment, the perspective with which Justyna looks at life has also changed. What seemed obvious before has taken on a different weight today. A life without pain has become a dream, and moments devoid of suffering the most precious gift.

She used to rescue others

Before her illness brought her daily life toa halt,Justina worked as a paramedic. She was a person who did not lose her head in a crisis, she acted quickly and with the conviction that every life was worth saving. This vocation, was concrete, demanding, yet full of meaning. It gave her a sense of fulfillment and a real impact on the world around her.

Today, the roles have reversed. She has gone from being the person providing help to being the one who needs that help. The disease has forced a halt, forced her to look at herself not through the prism of action, but of continuance.

In moments of weakness, Justina returns to her passions. Horseback riding, painting pictures, writing novels, music and ballet, are now becoming a form of therapy for her. In the silence of the paints, sounds and words, she finds a space where the disease loses its strength and she can, at least for a moment, return to her former self.
