Seemingly trivial beginning

The first signal appeared inconspicuously. An enlarged node, which seemed nothing special, became the beginning of the whole story. Until April, it gave no symptoms, so Jasmina was able to almost forget about its presence. Other than the fact that it was enlarged, it did not betray its true nature.

But over time, the silence gave way to discomfort, which grew with each passing day and no longer allowed to pretend that it was just a trivial detail. In mid-April, diagnostics became necessary. A series of tests, hospital corridors, hours full of anxiety and finally, at the end of the month, the words were spoken that brought the teenager's world to a halt: Hodgkin's lymphoma stage four.

The road through chemistry

On May 1, Jasmina began chemotherapy. The first cycle still brought hope that the treatment would be bearable, but subsequent cycles quickly dispelled her illusions.

The second cycle was followed by infection, intestinal paralysis and septic shock. The third cycle ended with an infection and fever that forced another hospitalization. Since July 12, Jasmina has been in the hospital continuously, as another infection of unknown origin prevented her from returning home. The chemotherapy cycles have followed one after another, each bringing new complications and unpredictable difficulties.

The continuing burden of treatment

Oncology treatment does not end with the cycles of chemotherapy administered. With each successive cycle, complications arose: the need for urgent removal of the port after an infection, pains for which the usual medications did not work, recurrent infections, fainting and problems with the digestive system. The disease and its consequences have made Jasmina's life a string of constant obstacles that must be overcome one by one. Each day is a struggle not only against the disease itself, but also against what it leaves behind. Fatigue, pain and fear of what tomorrow will bring are the seventeen-year-old's indispensable companions.
