Support for Jacob in his most important duel

He initially thought he had sprained his ankle, but the swelling appeared not in the ankle, but on the tibia.

The parents took Jakub to the emergency room, where an X-ray was performed. The orthopedist found no apparent orthopedic injuries, but noted a worrisome growth on the tibia and referred Jacob for further testing.

The next stage of diagnostics took place at a hospital in Olsztyn. During the ultrasound examination, the orthopedist present called for a consultation with an oncologist, who suspected a more serious problem. Detailed tests were ordered, and the case was consulted with doctors from the Warsaw Institute of Mother and Child. After initial tests in Olsztyn, Jakub was referred to Warsaw for further treatment.

In the capital, a biopsy was taken, a PET scan was performed and most of the previous tests were repeated. The histopathological result confirmed the diagnosis - Jakub is suffering from Ewing's sarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer that has managed to give metastasis to the lungs and to the lymph nodes in the groin and below the knee.

The team of doctors decided to undertake immediate treatment. Nine cycles of chemotherapy have been planned, which will be followed by surgery to remove the tumor. The chemotherapy will then be continued, and the next stage of treatment will be radiation therapy.

Jacob has a long and difficult road ahead of him, but doctors are doing everything to give him a chance to beat the disease. His determination and the support of his family and loved ones are invaluable in this fight.
