Jacek is 59 years old. Taught to work hard, he worked physically all his life with humility and honesty. He believed that everything could be earned with his own hands, and that the respect with which he approached work would be rewarded by life.
In search of bread and the hope of a decent life, he went to England, where he has been working on the construction of a nuclear facility since 2017.
In 2018, he heard his first diagnosis - malignant cancer of the lymph nodes.
He underwent a year-long treatment, chemotherapy, after which he almost immediately tried to return to normalcy.
He never asked for help, he tried to carry the entire burden of the disease himself.
With faith in victory over the disease , he financed the costly treatment from his own savings, convinced that as soon as he regained his health, he would return to work, catch up, save money....
And indeed, for a while it seemed that the disease had let go....
A return that took away the peace of mind
After six years of relative peace, the cancer returned in March 2025. This time it attacked his face, skin and left eye.
On June 11, Jacek underwent extensive surgery at the Provincial Specialized Hospital in Olsztyn, during which the affected tissues of his face and eye were removed ( he can't see in his left eye), and a transplant was made from skin taken from his thigh.
It was a procedure that on the one hand saved his life, but on the other left deep wounds in his psyche.
The prospect of more surgeries only exacerbated this condition. There was no time to get used to what had already happened when it cameto preparing for the next surgery.
On October 3, the left eyelid was surgically corrected to match the healthy eye.
That wasn't the end of it, either. More facial and eye reconstructive procedures lie ahead for Jack.
Living in silence and solitude
Jacek currently lives in Gizyńsk, in a house that remembers his childhood. Today, it's also the site of his battle with the disease.
He has no family, no one to relieve him in his daily life.
What's left is the will to fight and a tired body that is still trying to keep up with the challenges he faces.
His situation is dramatic. There is a lack of funds for medicines and for travel to the hospital in Olsztyn, 130 km away. There is a lack of funds for basic needs...There is a lack of support and help....
This is the story of a good man whose fate has put him to a hard test. Jacek wants to live. He just needs support to continue this fight.
Not everyone has a family next to them, but everyone deserves not to be alone in illness.
