In the beginning, no one said: "cancer".

It all started with a small lesion. A quick consultation and biopsy, which did not show it to be malignant. There was hope.
However, after several months of observation, the decision was made to remove it. Detailed histopathological examination confirmed its malignant nature.

Long seven years of treatment

The years-long cycle of therapy began. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy and hormone therapy brought, one after another, enormous side effects and increasing fear. The entire treatment process took seven years. It was difficult, but in time the effects appeared and the treatment brought improvement.
It was possible to breathe. At least for a while...

And then he came back

In July 2023, during a routine chest X-ray, doctors detected a focus that caused them concern....
Surgery was ordered. What was supposed to be one focus turned out to be a bigger problem. Many more were detected, including one in an area that could not be completely cleared. The diagnosis was clear: secondary cancer of a malignant nature, this time in the lungs.

Living with therapy and its effects

Today Isabella is undergoing further treatment. The therapy includes hormone therapy and oral chemotherapy (ciclib). Every day is a battle with weakness, extreme susceptibility to infection and anemia. There have also been serious gastrointestinal problems, neutropenia and leukopenia - which have effectively taken away the woman's ability to be active.

Therapy is ongoing, although its direction and effectiveness still depend on the results of subsequent check-ups, which, like an oracle, decide whether treatment can be continued, modified, or perhaps even discontinued. Each test is not only a medical procedure, it is also anxiety, constant anticipation and a daily chase of thoughts.
