The treatment plan doesn't always go as planned
On October 20, Emilka arrived at Cape of Hope for her final round of chemotherapy and insertion of a central line. The procedure took place two days later.
After the procedure, Emilka didn't wake up. A subarachnoid hemorrhage occurred on the right side of the brain and a seizure. The condition required immediate action.
Emilka was admitted to the intensive care unit, where she spent seven days. Once her condition had stabilized, she was transferred to a high-dependency unit.
A thorough neurological and cardiological evaluation was conducted. The results confirmed the need for ongoing neurological care.Returning to treatment despite complications
Emilka's condition gradually stabilized. On November 3, she was able to receive her fourth round of chemotherapy. Her body continues to respond to treatment, despite earlier complications. What matters most is slowly coming back
Emilka is gradually regaining her strength. She responds, can see, and moves her limbs. For her parents, these changes mean more than any words could ever express. Every day, every breath, every gesture is no longer something to be taken for granted.Returning home does not mean the end of treatment
On November 11, Emilka finished her hospital treatment and returned home after four months.
Already The next day, I had to return to the hospital. I developed a blood clot and an embolism in the femoral vein. She spent another week undergoing angiological treatment. After a short time She returned home. However, after five days, she again experienced severe symptoms, including leg pain and loss of sensation. She was admitted to the high-security ward again. The treatment continues, but its form is changing
After another hospital stay, Emilka returned home. She is currently under ongoing angiology care and goes for monthly checkups at Przylądek Nadziei.
This is the stage at which treatment does not end, but transitions into a long-term process of monitoring and responding to changes. March 20, 2026Decrease in hemoglobin
Today's Day (17.09.2025) began with a transfusion. Due to a drop in hemoglobin Emilka is given blood to strengthen her body and prepare it for the next stages of treatment.Coming up on the third cycle of chemo
At the end of September before Emilka a series of important studies. On September 23-24, the Cape of Hope will host imaging studies, and on September 25 A PET study has been scheduled in Warsaw, which will assess whether the introduced treatment is effective. September 30 Emilia will return to the Cape, where, after the placement of a doudah insertion will begin a third cycle of chemotherapy.Fight against pain
Emilka is in a lot of pain, but she doesn't stop fighting. She faces the pain with extraordinary strength, rejecting painkillers. She wants to overcome suffering on her own, showing great courage and determination. 17 września 2025<Today the fight for Emilka's future begins ❗

It started with neck pain... No one expected it to be the beginning of such a dramatic journey
In February, Emilka felt pain on the left side of her neck. She felt a small lump. She and her parents went to the doctor, who said it was probably a complication from a recent infection - bronchitis. Reassured, they returned home. However, in April, the situation began to deteriorate. Not only did the pain not subside, but it began to radiate all the way to the abdomen. The tumor was not going away. Another visit to the doctor ended with an antibiotic. After taking it, the tumor grew to the size of a hand.
Concerned parents immediately took Emilka to the doctor. She was sent to the hospital, where x-rays of her chest and neck were taken. The images showed an infiltration on the right lung and bronchus. The doctors had no doubt - it is necessary to act immediately. Emilka was referred to the Cape of Hope.
Long diagnosis, isolation and waiting in uncertainty
At the Cape, she underwent two stages of diagnosis. The first step was detailed tests and a decision to surgically remove the lesion and biopsy it. The result was a surprise - the biopsy did not confirm the cancer, there was a suspicion of tuberculosis. Emilka had to go to the isolation ward to confirm or rule out this diagnosis. Fortunately, tuberculosis was ruled out. Emilka was transported to Rabka, where doctors performed a bronchoscopy - an invasive test, but necessary to finally make a diagnosis.
Malignant granuloma. The battle has begun
Three weeks after the bronchoscopy, doctors delivered the worst news - malignant granuloma. The cancer, which had been hiding for months under the guise of a simple infection, had invaded her body. Emilka returned to Cape of Hope, where a team of specialists prepared a treatment plan. There was a difficult road ahead for this brave girl: oncological treatment, possible side effects, months taken out of her childhood. But Emilka - despite her fear - is ready to fight.
