The onset of the disease and the first months of the fight
It took only a few weeks between her diagnosis on February 18, 2025, and the start of treatment. Dorothy then underwent sixteen infusions of chemotherapy, which, although extremely taxing, were necessary to stop the progression of the disease.
The next step was an operation performed on September 10, 2025 to remove the tumors along with the lymph nodes. This procedure, although a key point of therapy, brought a profound weakening of the body, which requires additional support after months of intensive treatment. Dorota is benefiting from private forms of strengthening therapies, as standard care does not allow for full recovery.
Radiation therapy involving fifteen sessions is scheduled for November 19, and numerous follow-up examinations are scheduled in the coming months, both at home and abroad, in order to monitor the condition and further course of treatment as closely as possible.
The body is fighting
The treatment so far is working, but the price has been enormous. Chemotherapy has left a marked cachexia in its wake, and Dorothy's daily life is one of fatigue, impaired immunity and difficulty in performing the simplest tasks. It's a period in which every day requires extraordinary attentiveness and strength that the body still can't fully recover.
The illness and treatment have also forced her to give up her job. The deteriorating condition has made Dorota unable to function at her current rhythm. She dreams of a return to fitness, an ordinary life, part of which is time spent with her tiny granddaughter giving her the greatest motivation today. Regaining her health would open up the possibility of returning to her former independence, and in the future, perhaps, to professional activity.
Everyday life that requires strength
Dorothy is setting a lot of expectations for herself, but her body keeps reminding her that she needs support far beyond that provided by basic cancer therapy. Strengthening treatment, research and procedures are still needed to restore balance step by step.
