Fighting from the first breath

Dominic was born with a tumor that traveled through the spine into the abdominal cavity. The tumor pressed on the nerves inside the spine, causing neurological disorders. From the moment he was born, the boy's left foot was inert. It was this lack of responsiveness to stimuli that drew the attention of doctors and marked the beginning of a detailed diagnosis.

A series of tests led to a dramatic diagnosis - a malignant tumor of the nervous system called NEUROBLASTOMA. The most difficult stage turned out to be the first six months of Dominik's life, during which the little boy underwent as many as five major operations.

Treatment right away

The diagnosis left no room for hesitation. Time was of the essence here, so the decision to start treatment was made almost immediately. Chemotherapy was administered, which, although extremely taxing for such a small organism, helped stop the progression of the disease. The parents emphasize that it was the attentiveness of the doctors and the accuracy of the therapeutic decisions that caused the disease to be halted at an early stage.

Today, Dominic has completed his cytostatic therapy and remains under constant oncological and neurological care. The time has come for the next and equally important stage, especially at this stage of the boy's development.Intensive rehabilitation, is expected to help Dominik regain his dexterity and freedom of movement. Every progress, even the smallest, is a huge success and a source of great joy for his parents.

Childhood in the shadow of illness

The time of treatment, recovery and constant fear for each day was the most difficult time of their lives for this family. The months spent in the hospital and the moments of making difficult decisions affected their entire lives, starting from professional to emotional. During this time, priorities turn into one - save the child's life.

Although the main treatment is over, the disease still reminds of itself. It returns in the need for daily rehabilitation, regular check-ups, examinations and that constant feeling of anxiety that accompanies every hospital visit. It's a vigilant life with the unquenchable hope that the day will come when they will be able to remember this stage without fear of what the future will bring.
