Explore the history of
Innocent symptoms, dramatic diagnosis
Until recently, Andrew's life was filled with training, family hikes in the mountains and being present at his son's sporting successes. February 2025, however, brought a sudden change. The first dramatic signs appeared - cardiopulmonary failure, increasingly frequent shortness of breath, apneic episodes, and his saturation dropped to just 18%. Even then it was clear that something serious was going on in the body. A series of tests confirmed the doctors' suspicions: a neuroendocrine tumor located in the mediastinum was detected - extremely rare and extremely difficult to treat.
The difficult road of treatment
On March 14, doctors performed a biopsy of the tumor, and on May 27, electrical cardioversion was required.
Today Andrew isqualified for radiation therapy - thirty intensive sessions that will become his daily routine. It's a difficult and exhausting therapy, but the only one that offers a chance to stop the disease and regain at least some of his strength.
Illness offers no respite
Cancer is not the only adversary. Andrew also struggles with congestive heart failure, valvular insufficiency, atrial fibrillation and flutter, respiratory problems, hypothyroidism and other complications. Every day is a struggle to do the basics - to be able to walk a few steps faster, to endure the heat, to maintain memory and concentration.
Home and hospital...life torn apart
Andrew currently divides his daily life between home and the hospital. Although the disease has taken him away from work and activity, it has not taken away from the support of his wife and son, who are constantly by his side. They are the ones who give him the strength to face the pain, fatigue and limitations that have come so suddenly.
